Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

My biggest fear. If this is allowed to pass then they will be next. Maybe not right away but eventually.
Used to work with a lass from Latvia and her husband. One of their concerns with Brexit was the potential it had to destabilise the EU as a union, with the growth of nationalism, larger nations looking inwards giving Russia the opportunity to assert more influence over those Eastern European countries. Looks like Russia have lost patience with that and just got the ball rolling anyway.

When is the time to make a stand?

He's pushed and pushed. Scrambles NATO jets every single day. Undoubtedly influenced US elections, probably Brexit and authorises endless cyber attacks. He's has murdered people on our soil. And not just a bullet, he contaminated countless areas with polonium then the same again with a nerve agent.

He must see NATO as weak and after years of planning he's now going to start invading countries.

Nobody wants a world war obviously but we cant let him continue, its got to be time to stop him before it's too late.
Its scary really like

Russia now state they recognize the full territory claims of the breakaways up to borders in areas still controlled by Ukraine.

Take it to another thread ffs
Why?

Actually I know why - it’s because you don’t want people to know just how deep his infection into British politics goes, and while you berate his disinformation tactics here, you were only too happy to lap it up when it was for something you supported. And God forbid it should make people question whether Brexit was a good idea. All hail the mighty brexit.

agreed, I don't particularly like fracking mind but would support a government fracking programme (not private) where
I like the sentiment but I think the problem is here. I don't think we own the energy created here and seemingly have no interest in doing so

Russia now state they recognize the full territory claims of the breakaways up to borders in areas still controlled by Ukraine.

That’s not a surprise but it does remove any doubts about their real intentions and how serious this all is

Mr Putin has signed his own death warrant by invading Ukraine. It won’t be the west that get to him but his own people.

The younger Russian generation crave a western lifestyle and have no appetite for a return to war and the soviet era. In my opinion Putins crackdowns on dissent will be useless as opposition grows.

Putin is a madman seemingly (judging by his speech yesterday) living in a parallel universe completely out of touch.

Ukrainian government have said many times that they are sick of this nonsense being circulated. This is a continuation of a crisis that has been playing out in eastern Ukraine for years. It is not a new attempt to take over a huge country of 40 million. Russia hasn’t got the capability to subdue a hostile population in a country that size. Even the Ukrainian government has repeatedly asked western media to tone down the hysteria and stop making up alarmist propaganda:

“I think when the phase disappears in two or three weeks, we should do a retrospective analysis of how large, very well-known media outlets began to spread disinformation worse than [the Russian propagandists] Skabeeva and Solovyov,” the party chairman told viewers.

He proceeded to mention CNN, Bloomberg, and The Wall Street Journal by name, whose activities, according to him, resemble elements of a hybrid war.

Given that Arakhamia belongs to Ukraine’s ruling party, his rebuke of U.S. media is especially astonishing.

The fake news is destroying Ukraine’s economic power

Arakhamia warned primarily of the economic impact of the news about planned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The reports on the threat costs Ukraine about $2-3 billion (€1.76 billion to €2.64 billion) every month, the head of Zelensky’s Servant of the People party noted.
During an appearance on the Pravo Na Vladu (Right to Power) show on the 1+1 TV Channel on Monday, Arakhamia compared the reporting of U.S. media outlets to Russian propagandists, adding that “the panic phase (of the crisis) will disappear” in a few weeks.

“I think when the phase disappears in two or three weeks, we should do a retrospective analysis of how large, very well-known media outlets began to spread disinformation worse than [the Russian propagandists] Skabeeva and Solovyov,” the party chairman told viewers.

Stop this alarmist nonsense about a Russian invasion.

Got 23 iirc. How many can fit on a carrier?
According to wiki...
Aircraft carried
  • 1 × carrier air wing of 40 aircraft; typically,
    • (maximum of 36)
    • and Crowsnest

there is more to this shite than meets the eye, has anyone listended or read Putins full interview the bloke has a point like

P.S. I STAND WITH UKRAINE FACEBOOK Profile templates incoming

Don't get too excited marra. We don't even have enough F-35s to fill a single carrier😨
we have 23 in service, 1 crashed and 4 I think are on USA soil for testing and training, I think we are supposed to get strength up to 40 by the end of 2023 and have planned to have ordered 60 more long term.
