Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Technically no. They’ve entered the newly recognized country/state

I think he means that in general, it’s hard to disagree. Can’t wait until Harris finally kicks him out of that chair
The President of Ukraine disagrees with you. As does everyone else apart from Russia.

It’s like saying China technically can’t invade Taiwan because they think it’s part of China.

It was obviously tongue in cheek.

It’s 100% an invasion, Putin is sitting back waiting for the west to make their move.

France has already said they want to wait until Thursday for a meeting. Germany are staying quiet, USA basically said don’t do too much wrong, Boris has threatened extreme sanctions.

We will see

It’s hard to tell with that absolute moron posting drivel. You never know who else is as stupid as they are.

So this whole massive show was just to annex 2 breakaway provinces, and then it's over with a "hey we didn't do anything wrong really, could have been much worse, let's just call it quits" from putin?
That's what it looks like to me, however if/when the Ukrainians contest the breakaway Russian-speaking provinces then he'll take the lot and overthrow the Govt.

Is anyone else watching sky news? I’m sure she just said the video of the Russians agreeing that they recognize the 2 independent states was made 48 hours ago.
So they already had this ready 2 days ago ffs. Just had to make sure the paperwork was ready before the announcement
The media needs to stop calling it a threat. It’s no longer a threat ffs

I wouldn't trust the western media, we've already seen posts above that Ukraine has been invaded

I’m not sure Ukraine has anything to gain by not fighting back. It just delays the inevitable.

Putin made it quite clear his ambition extends to the whole Ukraine and maybe more.

Letting him have Donbas won’t satisfy Putin. Ukraine will be back here in a few weeks with a new Russian false flag or perceived justification to keep going.

Unless they are prepared to fully surrender and become a vassal state back in Russia’s orbit they will have to fight.

Letting Russia get a bigger foothold doesn’t seem logical

It would make the west look weak for the rest of the old bloc.
Places like Serbia would be Russia by the end of the month. Knowing they have zero support they can’t fight it alone

you've been taken in by the western media mate, nothing could be further from the truth

Good map here that shows currently the separatists only hold about 1/3 rd of Donbas and 1/4 of Luhansk. Unless Ukraine roll over now Putin has recognised all of it there is enough fighting still to happen in these regions alone that will kick off in the next few days

The problem is Luhansk and Donetsk (and Crimea) voted heavily in favour of Yanukovych, the demographic of these regions have extremely high numbers of Russians living in Ukraine, they're obviously going to side with Russia. The country overall voted for NATO membership and closer ties with EU but these people didn't, and we're talking over 90%, these people will be happy with the current political situation.

Even if a legitimate referendum was held which was overseen by the Ukrainian Government rather than a one under duress by the rebels, they'd still probably vote to join Russia.

Point of no return now sadly.
