Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

We're not. It's all about the people's wishes which is what the Ukrainians have voted for, as part of their constitution of Ukraine.

They don't stand a chance of getting in at the present time. Getting in requires an unanimous decision from everyone else currently part of NATO and the likes of Lithuania and Estonia will almost 100% not vote for it with the prospect of a nation like them having to fight Russia as part of the military defence.

Surely the mutually sensible thing to do then would be to just agree to not let them join? Would be seen as "backing down to Putin" or whatever but surely preferable to a war of this scale, Ukraine's potential NATO membership obviously means a lot more to Russian than it does to us.

I've no idea why you are conflating the Ukraine with Palestine. And whatever Corbyn says is irrelevant anyway. It seems to me, you used this terrible crisis to attack an ex labour leader, who has absolutely no power in the proceedings. You certainly have an agenda
I don’t. I voted for Corbyn as a Labour supporter.

My agenda is against the stop the war coalition he is a leading member of and provides with a platform.

I’m against them because their name makes them sound like pacificists when they are not. They are useless tankie communist fifth columnists preaching revolutionary defeatism. I hate them and Corbyn is part of them.

A part of the problem would be that in doing so it may be seen as a sign of Western weakness and encourage Russian aggression
why not ask Russia to join Nato
Or Nato states to join Russia

Blatant now isn’t it?

Been clear for ages. He was in Serbia FFS trying to knack their EU argument.

Now why would Mr UK Brexit man care about Russian leaning Serbia?

Absolutely blatant & as part of sanctions he should be investigated *.

* won't be cos the Tories are in knee deep as well. Look up Lord Lebedev. Don of a KGB agent sits in house of Lords. Let that sink in.

heres the actual treaty -

i dont see any reference to NATO in it...
From the Times and Irish Times:

and the Graunaid that asserts 'The author concludes the charge of betrayal is technically untrue, but has a psychological truth.'

Do you remember the Cuba crisis out of interest, was there an open door policy left open there for alliance expansion for instance?
