New Music Releases Thread

There are albums on the horizon this week from Beach House, Hurray For The Riff Raff, Lavender Country, Methyl Ethel, Metronomy, Pike vs The Automation, Sally Shapiro, Tennyson, The Body & OAA, the Ocean Child tribute to Yoko Ono comp (some big names on there), Uele Lamore, Shovels & Rope, Sea Power (delayed from last week), Dean Owens, Modern Studies and Eve Adams
Sarah Shook & The Disarmers as well, which I think will take up most of my attention. Hurray for the RiffRaff will probably me get a run out as well.

I'm not really familiar with Big Thief. I listened to one song off the new album on youtube. I don't remember what it was called, but I really didnt like it. What are the standout songs on the new album?

Personally I love Simulation Swarm, think it’s a great pop song.

I can understand why they would grate, but they write lovely tunes. Off to see them in a couple of weeks, and they were the last band I saw before lockdown (supported by a thrash metal band)

Spoon
Another cracking album, they rarely disappoint, such a consistent band.
One of my all time favourite bands
EMF have a new album out in April.
🤯

Schubert Dip was the first album I ever bought and I have remained quite obsessed with them over the years but completely missed this new album news.

I probably listen to Stigma (their 2nd album) at least one a month or so and it's up there among my all time favourite albums. Mark (the drummer) used to be a regular on their online forum and I have chatted with him before. Me and my mate were buzzing when we found they were reuniting for a one off gig in a Forest Of Dean pub around 10 years ago and were bang up for it but I think all tickets went before they were ever really on sale

Ian Dench, their guitarist and songwriter, became a bigshot in the music industry in America after EMF finished. He has written songs for loads of well known people.

Stigma is such an underrated album. I went to see them at Newcastle poly when it came out and they were class. I also still listen to it.

Listened to that Spoon album, turned it off 2 tracks in sounded like a generic Black Keys type album no edge to it

Big Thief album started good but haven’t had time for a full listen. I’m catching up on Richard Dawson and Circle album from the end of the year. It’s really good.
