Sadly it's about 93% but that's a huge majority vote for getting on. Societies are becoming packs, thus we have Wild rabid dogs as the Alpha leaders...disobey and you'll be bringing up the rear with your tail between your legs. Every society, culture has to change at the same time or we just become an echo of the nuclear debate, as in should everyone have them. I don't have the answer, only the desire :(

I realise that a month after Zelensky made his plea for NATO support and declared his intent to retake Crimea that Putin went on TV and told NATO to back off and that he was prepared to intervene if they were involved in military action against the separatists.

I realise our media reported we effectively told Putin to fvck off in December when he submitted a draft agreement to ensure no hostility between NATO and Russia.

I realise that Russian troops began to take up positions AFTER reports the US and NATO would respond "accordingly" to Russia IF it invades Ukraine and AFTER US and NATO escalated arms and troops in Ukraine, Poland and nearby NATO countries.

I realise you believe NATO isn't an aggressive force and you're unwillingly to consider what a Russian might think of all these things which btw have been reported in Western media not Russian state propaganda.

I still think your case that Putin will invade Ukraine is based more on bogeyman stories than diplomatic process.

So are you saying that amassing forces at a countries border is allowed if:
A. A country you invaded and annexed a part of 5 years ago wants it back and has the audacity to make it public
B. You make a draft peace agreement (to which the conditions you havnt divulged) but as its rejected, you crack on
C. After receiving a warning that if you have intentions to amass forces or invade, that shall be policed, you do it anyway.

So you believe NATO responsible for this? because thats what your post reads like

If you read the post I responded to and the whole of my response it should have been clear enough that I was talking about how it would look from the other side of the fence.

There are lots of family links between Ukrainians and Russians, esp. in the eastern and west sectors of both countries - llots of each in their respective countries with ties stretching back generations. This sin't the US and Iraq...If the killing starts in earnest it would be a very dodgy strategy for Putin. He's likely as worried about the domestic reaction as with what NATO says..
 
Why don’t they do this:

Agree Ukraine won’t join NATO under the proviso it won’t be there invaded by Russia or have at inference by them.

It will mean there won’t be any NATO on Russia’s border and Ukraine’s sovereignty will be upheld.

In the meantime Ukraine can modernise it’s forces to defend itself

All are happy
