Confirmed KLD only owns 41%

I’m hugely disappointed in the facts. I think the language needed clarification and was deliberately vague to say what we wanted to hear. I’m prepared to see what further clarification there is about how the club is run before judging but there needs to be more about who actually controls what in real life no share numbers. Apart from the back end of the window and there odd signing error I think the club have made progress since KLD. Im not hitting myself with a rock yet - but if there was anything I could do to ensure the club made progress and Donald and Methven got no profit at the same time I’d be doing it.

What progress you do you think we have made? We are out of the automatic promotion race in mid-February, face a fight to stay in the play-off places and have an incredibly lopsided squad. I can't see any progress.

It’s only irrelevant if you aren’t a Sunderland supporter tbh.
No, it's irrelevant to this thread

Sure, it's relevant to the Mag thread, but not to this. No one was praising the Chronicle anyway.

If we attack the media for dragging this story, and we also drag them for not highlighting Sunderland, they'll just not highlight Sunderland at all.

They highlight what sells.
This is gold dust for them

It was clear from the way appointing Johnson's replacement was managed that there was more going on behind the scenes.
It now looks likely there was disagreement among the controlling interests in the club

..... and this breakdown of share ownership has been revealed as a consequence of an internal power struggle?

The shambles we've seen over the last 4-5 weeks, right across the club, suggests there's something seriously amiss in the here & now - never mind what might / might not happen in the summer.

Piece from the Athletic

It means Sunderland’s pre-existing ownership group owns a greater combined shareholding than Louis-Dreyfus but the club are eager to stress that it is the current chairman that is still the key decision-maker ahead of his first anniversary at the Stadium of Light this week.

After you have read that fom the club, the key decision maker is not KLD its the shadow directors behind him
Who in their right mind believes anything safc say?

Agreed.

But so is the Mag owners being human rights abusers, outrage from Mags gets clicks as well.

That said, again, we can't hate when the media cover our shite owners or they just won't
I know what you mean, and totally get it. But the mags will lap this up. There’lol be t-shirts the lot by the weekend. In fact I’d expect a load of them at our match they’re that sad. Probably singing the dick heads names.

The same way they haven’t for years you mean? It’s only 3 weeks since cheef keef said he wouldn’t cover us because we are irrelevant. Theyd rather lick the Saudis boots, their fans love a bit of that. I’d have had a bit more time for your theory if it was one of the mag arse kissers that had broken the story.

I try to ignore the Mags and the obvious Mag Media like the Chronicle for this reason. We need to do what's best for our club and us without heed to the knuckledraggers and horse punchers.

The answer is to ignore the Chronicle. Hit them in their pocket.

Rage generates more money than praise through clicks.

Be interesting to know what happened to that money they trousered out the club when they “bought it”. as part of this arrangement.

So basically...

They used it to buy the club, is the short answer. They agreed a valuation of £37.6m with Short, at least £25m of which came from parachute payments. That money then became a debt to the club from their holding company, and it meant that whenever they put money in, it was slowly paying off that debt.

They had paid back £4.5m by the time they wrote off the remainder, meaning that they had no legal obligation to pay any more back. We've heard varying reports on what had been put back in, but I reckon Hep was accurate with his £13m owed personally by Donald, which implies that in thr last 2 years he has put in £2m, likely to cover running costs, while Juan put in £400k over the same time.

That means that of the £27m SD paid for us personally, he has likely only actually paid somewhere around half of the cash so far, with no actual obligation to pay any more. If we were sold tomorrow for the same price, he would have made a £13m cash profit, all of which effectively comes from the club's coffers.

If KLD paid the same price, then he would have given Donald £15m cash for 40%. That in itself will likely represent a small profit already, but with continuing obligations around funding, his net position could change depending on money going in or someone buying the rest of his shares.

Basically a disgraceful outcome.

It’s a murderer sympathiser fanzine. I wouldn’t wipe me arse on it. Either the ink comes off or it makes a mess of me ipad screen.
