Unless Putin creates a false flag type situation whilst the Ruskies are “peacefully withdrawing” as an excuse to invade Ukraine, then he’s has massively miscalculated his strategy of bluffing and threatening invasion and basically been left with egg on his face.

The west have called his bluff and basically given him free reign to invade by removing embassy staff and telling citizens to leave etc. The Russians now appear to be withdrawing without any concessions being made, making Putin and Russia look very weak to its citizens and only strengthening the wests resolve and Ukraines determination to join NATO and become more militarised.

Putins gamble has backfired massively

The yanks turn up late and do nothing as always
They've tested out Germany's replacement for the most powerful woman on the planet and found he's a pussy soy boy.

Last night a Ukrainian analyst on ITV was saying the US was bottling support by ceding to Putin's demand to remove its 'advisors'. She expressed gratitude to the few European countries standing up to Putin and allowing their people to remain for the fight.

Far from it, I would have said.

He has had Western leaders panicking and running around not knowing what to do about it (and I suspect quite a bit of disagreement amongst them). Caused lots of support to be withdrawn from Ukraine. Stopped flights to Ukraine. Caused a big fall in the price of the worlds stocks and shares and a big increase in oil and gas prices - all because the Russians "held some military exercises".

I don't think he is the one coming out of it looking soft or daft. He applied some pressure and the world listened.

Yeah, I don’t believe that. Other wise he would pull his troops back all of them, not just some, remember those coming off the line can be sent back, putin is getting what he really wants of course, the leaders of the world coming to Russia to see him.

It doesn’t feel that way to me.

Russia have given the impression of threatening behaviour but instead of appeasement the western powers, even thought they’re weakened and divided, basically said ‘go on then’. And if Russia are moving away then they didn’t ‘have a go’.

Russia may have learned some useful things but they’ve also possible made NATO more significant than they have been for a long time, increased likelihood of Ukraine joining NATO, and made certain western powers realise they have to diverge themselves from Russian strategic resources.

Has it been a profitable escapade for Russia if they do de-escalate now? Doesn’t look like it to me. (Obviously there may be some secret appeasement that we’re not currently aware of).
