Not sure that matters where natural resources are concerned. It’s all about potential not where they are today.

Venuzuela is a basket case but it has the largest proven oil reserves in the World and depending on how quick all the world shifts to renewables it has the potential to be a very wealthy country. Or make others very wealthy.

Afghanistan has some of the richest precious minerals in the World and is believed to have many more undiscovered that could be crucial in the next age of technology. Hence China’s interest in cosying up to them.

Venezuela, Afghanistan, Ukraine are all in the shit economically and politically. But when they are all sitting on natural resources that will be crucial for energy and technology over the coming decades I’m not sure that matters and they will all be of strategic interest to superpowers and 1st World countries

Doesn’t look like that has anything to do with Ukraine judging on the flight plan. More the ongoing shit in the Middle East - Iraq, Iran, Syria, Yemen etc… but the yanks have been watching Ukraine for weeks

apparently costs 72000 dollars an hour to keep that plane up, it's been up for about 23 hours
 
If this happens, and I'm still sceptical if it will (and hopefully it will not) we will be seeing the biggest military conflict on European soil since World War II.

I'd like to hope this is a mix of posturing and scaremongering and a last minute deal can be made to avert war.
