Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

US/UK should just send 100k troops to the area and say ‘come on then you c*nts, if you touch them you’ve got us to deal with’

Rumours of influx of Russian mercenaries into East Ukraine & Russians have come out today & said they have the right to "retaliate".

I think clear sign of false flag intent here. Kick off something TV worthy & then send in might of Russian forces under "outrageous attack on ethnic Russians".

My bet is a land grab of Donbass down to enough to get Crimea linked. That could be done quickly & then a message sent to Kiev saying if you don't retaliate we'll stop here.

Ukraine Airlines had insurance revoked & handing planes back to leasing company. So Russia are basically strangling them.

Just pointing out why current events need to be placed in context with Ukraine rather than some greater geopolitical issue. It is not the usual area for the Russian navy to be conducting drills and hard to separate from what is happening in Ukraine. Simply Putin rattling his nukes and using intimidation. With such high stakes why should he be given the benefit of the doubt. It's also an area where a myriad of undersea cable are located that deal with submarine communications.

Still no comment from you on why the Minsk II agreement is beneficial to Russia rather than Ukraine.
On your opinion? All I can say is you've not given any consideration to the domestic situation and what the separatists want. A lot will depend on whether the Ukraine government can satisfy the demands and placate concerns of people in the region.

It's worth remembering, they voted overwhelmingly for Yanukovych in 2010. Until the violence exploded into a civil war, protests in the region were against the Maidan coup and some of the instigators but their support for Yanukovych became pointless when Russia invaded Crimea because it took away such a large part of his party's base that it pretty much crumbled to insignificance.

I can imagine they have mixed feelings about Russia and Kyiv. Putin's administration was instrumental in them losing their voice in Ukraine but are still drawn to the country because of cultural, social and employment ties which are under threat from the current policy makers

To be honest mate I couldn't care less about taking a more geopolitical view. This isn't an analysis and dissertation. I did say originally that a broader view did need to be taken but to place the Ukraine situation in its current context. If there are nuclear armed Russian subs lurking off the British Isles, I want NATO to hassle them into leaving by whatever means possible.

Bit more context on this one.

They were off the coast of Cork, because Ireland is generally considered to have the weakest military in Western Europe so it was more of a penis measuring exercise.
But it didn't goto plan as a bunch of Irish fishing boats (40 of them) invaded their training spot so they had to move.

So the penis measuring exercise ended up in humiliation by a horde of Irish fishermen.
