Just reading up on rolling contracts, sounds like it means it's a 12 month deal which automatically renews for another 12 months at the end of the initial 12 month period without need for renegotiation. So basically, if he doesn't get us promoted this season and the club decide to get rid, he'd only be due about 6 months pay off. Apologies if this has been covered, I initially thought it meant he always had 12 months left but that doesn't seem to be the case. Have a feeling they're keeping their options open in case he doesn't get us up. Sounds a bit harsh because I doubt it'll be his fault if we lose a play off, but I suppose if both parties are happy to agree to it, it might not be a bad thing for us. If Keane was offered the same it would be an obvious reason why it could fall through mind
Dead right, they've probably played RK just like this.....cheap bastards, going nowhere with whoevers in charge.....fancy not knowing who the owner is

This time may be a bit different imo. They’ve made a catastrophic mess in the last few weeks. Promotion is gone aside from the playoffs. The new manager search has shown the club to be completely incompetent. Winning a few games should not change that. It’ll make little difference to our season anyway. We could win all 15 and it may still only see us in the playoffs.
They won't though I bet on here tomorrow if we play well and win 99.9 percent of posters on here will be cock-a-hoop and won't even mention Roy Keane or the last few weeks

It will all be about mk Dons next week and people looking forward to the game and not looking back

So would it end in February? Seems an odd time.
Aye it would, but if neither party want to break it it'll just automatically extend. Guess the club are driving this, if they want rid after this season (which would be harsh) it's only 6 months to pay (maybe less as per @Shangri La post above). If he gets to start next season and it isn't working we can, yet again, change manager after Christmas and it would cost virtually nowt. On the face of it, it doesn't sound like a massive vote of confidence for what is a good manager at this level, but again if both parties are happy I'm not going to criticise them for it. If he gets us promoted I hope he's rewarded with a more secure deal

How f***ing small time do we look??? A rolling 12 month contract…. What a load of bollocks that is…. Stinks of Madrox all over that…. Give the bloke 2-3 years to build summit
Because of doing this we are probably still paying wages to Ross, Parkinson and Johnson.

Won 17 of his first 25 with Norwich, and then won the playoffs. So he knows how to do it. Just a question of getting the right tune out of this squad.
Lack of centre backs worries me still. Sounds like he'll demand graft though and a bit of aggression, two things that have been lacking at times.

Pretty much.

If I had to guess, what would make most sense from both parties (given they’ve announced it as a rolling agreement ) would that come the summer - say June 1st - there’s an ability from both sides to break with minimal compensation due.

Realistically it’s probably a risk worth taking from both sides. If he does well enough (promotion or say play off final) his stock will rise and he may get a championship job without any commitment. And then, with our ambition, if he shits the bed, we can replace without the usual massive payout
