Recruitment has been very good and is the least of our problems. We had Defoe, Matete, Roberts, Clarke, Hume and Dajaku on the bench on Saturday. We have had injuries but McGeady, O Neinn, Wright, Broadhead and Huggins back soon.

That is by far the strongest squad we have had in years and the strongest in the league! We have strengthened our squad in the January transfer window more than any other team in the league - in fact no other team comes close! All clubs in our league struggle with cover in the latter half of the season - we are better placed than any our team in the league.

I think it is fair to say another central defender would be good but we have Doyle, Barrt, Wright, ONeinn who can play there and a free agent is on the radar. Flannigan was a liability and anyone who witnessed his last games would know that. He should have been sold after his first season at the club. He has gone to a lower half League 1 team - say no more.

Upfront, OBrien and Hawkes have gone - replaced by Defoe, Clarke and Roberts. If that’s not progress I’m not sure what is!

Matete is a great buy and will be a first X1 player for sure.

The missing link is the manager! One of the attractions of the job to Keane is the strength of the squad. We are massively under achieving when you consider the strength of squad. Motivation levels seem to have dropped off - an issue that was raised with LJ. Keane makes perfect sense in this context.

Fans are writing off the season but I think if Keane is appointed and he has the desired impact, we will finish the season very strongly.
Doyle has been a bigger liability than Flanagan over a longer period, yes I know Flanagan has had his limitations exposed lately but we have only 2 fit CB's, unless we brought another CB in it was madness selling him (Winchester played in Flanagans position Saturday 1st half, awful). One LB, a RB signed in January that none of the coaches will play? Balanced squad, not for me. Very poor from the recruitment team.

What a position to be in. We haven't yet got a manager in place & unless the Club appoints one particular candidate it will immediately disaffect a significant number of its fans.

It doesn't really matter who you favour for the job you just get the impresssion that the whole thing could have been handled a bit better. I can't say that the events of the past few days will have helped to enhance our promotion prospects they are just going to make the task of the new manager harder
