Roy Keane

I'm sorry - and at risk of receiving the dog's abuse - I don't get the overwhelming desire to give Keane the job. His managerial record is not exactly jam packed full of success is it? Sure it would create excitement around the place, and I do not underestimate the uplift the fans will get from his appointment, but seeing through the romance of it all, what has he actually achieved in his managerial career? Sure he got us up, then stabilised in the first season back, but he left us in the lurch following a 4 - 1 home defeat to Bolton and in dire trouble the following season, with us only just avoiding relegation at the end.

Surely he is one fall out with Sporting Director/Owner or whoever upsets him from walking again?

I realise many would want him for his reputation, for his no nonsense attitude and so forth, and I also realise that McCann is (to understate the situation) not a popular choice, but he did get Hull up last season and has them mid table in the Championship, so he knows the territory and knows how it's done - Roy Keane doesn't. And by the way that is not to say I support his appointment either.

Can Keane manage lower league/ lower quality players? I have my doubts.

But if he's appointed I will wish him every success to get us out of this God awful league - maybe he will give underperforming players the necessary kick up the arse they need? But maybe his patience will not stand players who are not up to the standard of those he played with during his career?

Remember when we got Bruce instead……….?

"I am honoured to have had an offer from Football Club," Mancini told Sky Italia. "It is a fantastic opportunity. It will be truly wonderful to lead such a prestigious and historic club in England after a year of sitting on the sidelines. I feel I am ready to start again with immense enthusiasm."

My god man, reading that now.

The top n bottom of it is we need calm the fuck down.

The weekend was a no-go due the Donny game. Yesterday will have been a day off and Roy was expected on ITV.

Whether he was announced first thing this morning and tea time tonight won't have any real bearing on the game tomorrow. It's come too quick.

It’s called chemistry. He’s the right man for us for all sorts of reasons

Why did KLD like that tweet last week if it wasn’t happening? Why was keane so happy with himself on tv over the weekend? I still think it has to be keane. Maybe a hold up but surely it has to be him
Did KLD actually 'like' a Tweet or Instagram post, because I checked when that rumour popped up here in the RTG forums and I couldn't find it anywhere. I also had an the misses check to make sure I wasn't losing the plot, again I found no such 'like'. I hope I'm wrong, I hope the misses is wrong, but can someone please screenshot and show that this actually occurred!?!?

I had a sinking feeling from the start that it would be McCann. Not the worst appointment but with Keane in the running it feels like we've been left with the ugly sister if it is to be McCann and I've had plenty of those in my time...

Yeah he did was on my Insta

My gut feeling is we won't give him what he wants, Speakman will be pretty adamant about not giving in, and we'll appoint McCann. The official line will be we couldn't agree terms and Speakman will be buzzing inside as the Keane threat is averted.

No knowledge, just my thinking.
Starting to feel this too. Dragging on way too long.

Speakman is so far out of his depth it’s untrue, end of season he needs bladdering. What a shambles this club is man, no evidence at all that things are going to improve, getting worse if anything.
See, I'd stop short of these comments just yet. As I've said, the jury is out on him, I'm not wholly convinced. But it's wrong to lose our shit over Speakman because of the last few days.
