Disagree. That's not facts. That is all your opinion based on what is available publicly. You have no idea if we've already got Keane in the bag and are merely extricating his chosen assistant - or if we've made a clear and obvious play for him but, Keane being Keane, he's making us wait a bit. And as for the centre half thing, we have four on the books with O'Nien capable of playing there. The numbers are fine, the current situation is transient. It maybe wouldn't be the choice that all would make but does it allow us to get Defoe on contract while keeping within SCMP regs? I'm speculating here, of course, but that's the point. We don't know the whole picture. It's all opinion and we're filling in the blanks.

So with only a small amount of the information available, how is what the club has done 'negligent'?
Because they had 4 blokes in charge with zero credentials to be taking a game of that magnitude.
If they at least had an u23s manager in place, someome used to dealing with men's football team selection it would have been prefereable. Surely, that's one of the main reasons of having a DoF - maintaining continuity when managers depart?

Its such a tough call. I have the same fears as you. I felt strongly that Johnson would flop yet again in the play offs. Keano has the mental strength but do the team? Alex Neil probably makes more sense than Keane but would go down like a shit sandwich with many on here. I liked the comment from Speakman about football being an emotional game regarding the signing of Defoe. It is an emotional game and that's why I want Keane. Equally I'd be happy with Neil (with just a little disappointment).

V Bolton we were comfortable (without creating much) then as soon as they scored their heads went. Same Saturday. Doncaster barely had the ball out their half until they scored then heads went and it's 2 shortly after.

Johnson would always talk about their mindset and now Dodds is pouring his heart out about being gutted. They are so weak. I can see half of them sudddnly feeling muscle pulls when Keane comes in.

Are you a Roy Keane fan over being an SAFC fan?

I'm only popping in and out of this thread, is it now consensus that KLD is a charlatan then?
Not at all. To be honest I'm far from convinced that Keane would be the right appointment anyway, the big takeaway for me from his Overlap interview with Gary Neville was that his bemusement at buzzwords like "philosophy" coming up in job interviews suggests that he would find it very difficult to work alongside someone like Speakman.

As for the thread, it's Speakman who is getting an absolute battering but KLD is getting off scot free for now for some reason. Have been deeply unimpressed with KLD so far even before this whole fiasco and he has massively fanned the flames regarding Keane by liking those posts on Instagram so if it's anyone other than Keane now it will go down like a lead balloon and he will largely be to blame. The whole thing seems unprofessional beyond belief IMO and the previous regime would have been getting pelters under similar circumstances.

Why on Earth would he be dithering, if he had the assurances/terms he wanted; and if he doesn't have those assurances, it's not him dithering is it?
Like everyone else you are guessing. You choose to believe its all the clubs fault and that is your perogative. Doesn't make you right. Its a massive decision for boith club and Roy and its perfectly understandable that Roys is taking his time. He could still turn us down even of all terms are agreed.

Well, like i said it's all been agreed. Can't see why both sides would hold an announcement up🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
It can’t possibly all be agreed tho, there’s something somewhere holding it up, if it was ‘all agreed it would be signed, sealed and announced. If it was all agreed he’d be taking training right now.

f***ing farce now, don't know why it hasn't been announced.

I can honestly only think that it's because of either some contractual constraints (ITV or Sky) or some issue with getting the solicitors / contract over the line over the weekend due to RK's existing commitments.

As much as not having him in place by Sat was bad I'm prepared to accept there may well be good reasons which held up the contract signing and announcement.

If it drags beyond today mind I'll be starting to get concerned.
