We were all motivated, excited and looking forward to a new chapter until a journalist thought up what is potential a load of crap.
He’s coming!!!! As in arriving to take charge.

It was pretty clear Johnson didn't want him but can't see that beimg enough to sack him unless Johnson chinned KLD over it.
I think the fact that Defoe never came while LJ was here and it has been pretty clear we needed a proven leader captain and winner who challenge things what an issue may have been that contributed to LJ demise ?( results obv didn’t help )

and yet he took a very bad Hibs team to promotion at first attempt then got them in the Europa League. Hey I understand it’s Scotland but you can’t claim McCann is ahead of him which was the original quote
The problem is if it’s virtually anyone but Keane it’s going to be massively deflating for the majority of supporters.

From the owner ‘liking‘ social media posts and the club doing nothing to dampen down the wildly circulating rumours that Keane’s appointment was imminent, they’ve backed themselves into a corner big style.

It’s almost like after the 6-0 drubbing last weekend they were just pleased to milk any story that was popular….

Don't forget verifying references too - they'll have to call Ipswich to make sure he worked there, Martin O to confirm they worked together, etc. Takes a while.

I really hope Nixon is wrong about these second interviews mind. The f***ing arrogance of a club drifting down the third division table to think they have the time and leverage to interview candidates twice would be colossal!

Surely the fans chanting Keane's name was enough.

Keane needs to be appointed tonight.

Standards of this football club needs to be lifted again.

Too many players and staff have an acceptance of Sunderland AFC being in League One. Mediocrity performances from players and staff are the reasons we are here.

Enough is enough.

I expressed my reservations on Friday and they haven’t gone away but, in a play off situation I think he could definitely do a job.
But more importantly, either way, it needs to be sorted shit hot.

Agreed, doesn’t matter whether you want him or don’t, the club have sacked Johnson without have anything in place at a crucial point of the season. Just sort it and quick

If SD & CM had done similar there would have been hell on

I agree wholeheartedly

I think the purpose of Speakman’s interview yesterday was to dampen those expectations.

Don't see it personally. If you are going to start sacking managers over transfer targets it's a bit of a slippery slope.

Ie the day before they had no intention if sacking him had been working with him daily working on transfer targets and were confident form would turn the corner once new players they signed were integrated.

Then something happened (not just a 6-0 loss) that forced their hand and left them very little other option than to give him the bullet.
I repeat, don't sack a key member of staff without a plan B.

Dorry, but it makes no sense whatsoever.

That single decision alone could easily condemn us to a fifth season in division three.

No appt could mean nil points on Tuesday... Getting worried

It’s absolutely crackers that it’s looking almost certain that the same coaches who presided over yesterdays shambles will be overseeing affairs tomorrow and possibly even Tuesday.

Sacking a manager with 17 games to go suggests there’s increased emphasis to arrest decline and reinvigorate urgently before it’s too late. To allow 2 of those games to be overseen by what are effectively interim caretaker youth coaches would be negligent.

No, I know. That was my point really. I'm not convinced it really is Keane, Lennon or McCann. You'd think we'd have at least considered the likes of Manning or the lad at FGR.
Maybe they have, we have no idea apart from some on here saying Keane

Definitely agree with all of that.

There maybe reasons we don’t know and might never know as to why they sacked him, the way they did (results aside) and, obviously we want the right replacement, but it needs to be soon.
