I'm not thinking about automatic now but, I think he will thrive in big play off games, unike thenlikes of Ross who appeared to freeze at Wembley and that could be huge for us. If he gets the players to believe in themselves, it could make all the difference

I think this will be a major factor in appointing him, his mentality.

Despite the shit we’ve served up at times, we do have some very decent players who look shot to bits.

Ha’way the last minute winners.

A lad I was with yesterday but a fair amount of money on Lennon on Friday night at 25/1 due to a tip-off he'd got. He's not normally one to hear stuff but does have a tenous link to Lennon.
That would be the worst of the names mentioned but perfect if we want to continue along the path we've been on for the last three and a half seasons.

Keane situation aside Speakman is obviously a Dwarf & Salmon Pants influenced appointment as he is cut from the same cloth, as is Johnson. Corporate speak bollocks does not win you football matches particularly in this shitshow of a League. Get Keane in, give him autonamy over football matters with the 1st team and let him get on with it. The profile & buzz around the Club this week is how it should be ALL the time. He will light the touchpaper. FFS just get it done man. The current model isn't working.
Speakman has done a great job with recruitment! Did you see the bench yesterday! Getting rid of Flannigan and O BRIEN also makes sense. He can’t go on the pitch and play but our squad is the strongest in league! If he ties up Keane, I would say Speakman has done an outstanding job!

some seem to think anyone who is articulate is a changer! Far too simple a view on life!

Spot-on mate. He took a team who were on their knees and had them believing they could win any game in injury time.

Could have been our greatest post-war manager, but Short backed the rabble. Football's loss that no-one has given him a job since.
.. Agree, he had all the hallmarkings to become a great manager for me .. Regrettably, he also has a big flaw that makes sure that will never happen ..

I don't think Speakman wants Keane. He wants another Johnson who knows his place. Speakman couldn't handle Keane. I'll wager if he does come in Speakman will be gone by season end and if he doesn't come in Speakman will be gone by season end. That interview yesterday was absolutely shite.

Aye I did see the bench, the moron in charge decided to give us a great bench but a terrible first 11

That was the problem, they should have been on the pitch.

I'm not against Speakman but isn't the recruitment side down to Stuart Harvey who they brought in from Blackburn for that role? Speakman probably deserves credit for bringing Harvey in and for putting a structure in but I don't think he'll be the one targeting the recruits we bring in on the pitch.

All of this is based on absolutely nothing but assumptions though. How do you know that Speakman wants someone who knows his place or couldn't handle Keane?

I thought the interview was good. What didn’t you like about! The guy knows what he is doing - my view in that he will go on to bigger things in the game. He clearly couldn’t say much as a decision hasn’t been made -although I’m fairly certain an offer has been made! If it is Keane he wont rush his response and will want to tie up contract.

He pissed off 99% of the fans, certainly on here, a week after sacking the Manager and basically said they hadn't even compiled a shortlist?

He lowered the mood that'd been building all week and any momentum and excitement was gone. Didn't have to do an interview, shouldn't have done an interview. Its that straightforward. I will be deflated if it's anyone but Keane now and I think there was a bit of self preservation. You obviously didn't see that & I'm guessing you'll be cracking the champagne when McCann is announced?

Because its obvious. And of course I don't know them. What a bizzare comment
