KLD will be having doubts, Done some good business and invested a fair bit, to be 1 place above last season. It isn't good enough.
Nah this place has totally lost all sense of logic and understanding after defeat as per usual. You don’t think of a DoF the same way as a coach and sack him after a couple of bad results. At least a part of a DoF role is in making sure that we have players who will generate value for the club. He’s undoubtedly done that. Has he done a perfect job? No, but too many have lost all sense of perspective on him - primarily because they don’t understand the role.

The long term plan and dof have to be right, I'm all for that system. But is it? We've left ourselves ludicrously short, have a team of hobbies and look no better than where we finished last season. There needs to be some accountability.
There does as if we appointed someone better than johnson in the first place they would have this squad performing better imo

Theres no point them getting keane in if its to appease fans. It doesn’t suit what they are trying to do

Tin hat on but i wouldn’t be disappointed with someone like alex neil. Although personally ad rather we went for the longterm appointment in the liam manning/neil critchley mould

Let's see what happens, I think he coukd be gone by Christmas. The club seems very disjointed once again.

Keane is very different as he will probably always have the fans backing over anybody else at the club.
Because he’s done it as a player and he’s done it as a manager with us.

Speakman is nothing more than a mouth piece to me and what’s he bringing to the system that a scouting pool can’t do without him?

Just seems to be employing his pals from Birmingham.

I’m losing my patience because managerial appointments and interviews can happen quick. We had five days before yesterdays game ffs.

Wasn't Johnson supposed to be that coach who progressed us through and developed players?

For every critchley, there's a Steve Clarke and a Paul clement etc. I've got zero faith in the club to get that right.

I wouldn’t bet against it. But it would be another case of the club ‘giving the fans what they want’ when the truth is most of the fans haven’t got much of a clue. It’s exactly the behaviour that Ultimately made the Short era a failure.

Stop patronising people man. Seems like you’re saying he takes credit for the players we have that ‘generate value’ but none of the blame when it goes tits up like it clearly has.

I don't think the club will change their long term plan.
We will be sticking with the data driven approach and Speakman is here to stay. It's only a couple of days ago he was getting high praise for excellent recruitment.
I still think Keane will want to come as long as he's happy with the length of contract and he gets to rubber stamp and have the final say on players in and out.
We're all naturally deflated after a very poor display yesterday.
I still chose to believe that KLD and Speakman know what they're doing and are going to do the right thing in our best interests.
If Keane turns us down I think he gives up all hope of becoming a Manager and will have to resign himself to a life of punditry.
I think the opportunity, the timing and club itself will be too much of a draw to turn down.
I still think he'll come in and become our next Manager. We should give him 18 months and back him to do his thing. He'll be desperate to get it rigtt and prove the doubters wrong. That's what I think anyway. Glass half full. Has to be. Ha'way Sunlun get it awer the line please.
We need him probably more than he needs us. We can’t keep appointing no mark Mickey Mouse managers and expect them to be able to be able to handle the pressure of being able to manage a club of this size.

Keane spent most of his career at probably the biggest club in the world. He is used to it.

Disagree. There was no clamour at the matches for Johnson to go. That's on the club

I still haven't written Speakman off yet but he's had a car crash over the last week or so. It's worrying though that we seem to have so many muppets in the coaching department and it's difficult to see a situation where the appointment of Keane wouldn't shake things up somewhat. On balance, it's probable the Speakman doesn't want Keane but equally he knows that he might be on thin ice if someone like McCann is appointed because the fans won't have any patience.
He’s only had a car crash in the view of the impatient. Ok we didn’t see the new guys but matete looked promising and most of our squad, which have been generally seen as improvements, have come in during his time. Coaching staff are not managers so it was an impossible situation and maybe a telling sign that team confidence is low when having to handle pressure. I appear to be one of a few who is thankful that they are taking a few day to consider what appears to be an influx of options. They shortlisted in a couple of day and have held interviews. I think they’ll be in there today working of thrashing out a deal but it’s never that straight forward as legal terms need clarifying.

if It’s Keane, great. I think if he can work under our present structure he should lift the team. If we have a better fit, great. I’ll give him the chance to prove himself without judging him because he’s not Keane. The Keane appointment absolutely cannot be about nostalgia.

Nah fuck it. If people want to use this place to vent then go ahead. But it’s f***ing dumb to still be working yourself into a lather days later.

Johnson hasn't even lasted 18 months under this new plan. What do you man 'back to'?

I'm a fan of the model, but it hasn't been a success so far. Hence why Johnson has gone and we are a mighty 1 place above last season. KLD is clearly not happy.
Because we should be looking to bring in a coach who wants to work within our system and play with our defined style. If you just have a chairman and a manager without a DoF all of that is undefined, and changes every 18 months.

It hasn't been a success in the short term, but essentially we've acquired a load of assets, have a much younger squad and are basically where we were last season, that's not too bad. I know it's a disaster to still be in L1 but we should be in a much better position next season if we are still here.

Well obviously he wasnt as nearly everyone knew he wasnt

Thats their job though to get that right. Do some research and do their job properly instead of the usual obvious candidates my 80 year old uncle would want to appoint

Did their research leave them to appoint to absolute morons in charge for yesterday? Disgraceful.

He's the right man and we are the right club. It is the right time.
Has to happen in the next 48 hours. Please let it happen.

Depends on how much attention they pay to socials etc.
Then that's not the fans fault is it? Maybe the ckub should grow a backbone and not react that way. Cant win mate, you'd blame the fans for going off at the match and blame them because the club 'might check socials'. Simple fact is, it all lies with speakman and KLD

The issue is that we don’t have all the info. Did we sack Johnson without a plan? Maybe. It looks like it right now but it could easily be that we agreed with Keane earlier in the week (hence the itks and likes from kld) but can’t announce till Monday for some reason. Maybe Keane asked for that while he fulfils his itv commitments?

We fill the void with speculation. We did it with Defoe. We did it with the takeover. We do it with the share split. That’s what fans do. It’s not always helpful though - particularly after defeat.
