What was difficult about his interview today? We absolutely need a sporting director and he has done several good things, but my god he is hard to listen too. Clearly thinks he is far, far more intelligent and he is so verbose it borders on cringeworthy.
Was it his decision to play on during covid? Who would you have given the interim role to?He’s cost us big time. Deciding to play on with a depleted squad due to covid and brought in 2 absolute nobody’s to take charge after we sacked Lee Johnson. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I seen the team sheet.
That press conference today did nothing but feed his own hubris - not needed whatsoever and likely setting himself up to look very stupid.Yeah he reminds me of Tony Blair: he's very good at not answering the question but sounding like he has.
Only Sunderland would keep an unchanged side after losing 6-0He’s cost us big time. Deciding to play on with a depleted squad due to covid and brought in 2 absolute nobody’s to take charge after we sacked Lee Johnson. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I seen the team sheet.
Sometimes I think the owner and management of the club are royally taking the piss mindThat team selection today was absolutely bizarre. You could’ve asked any of the 39,000 in attendance to pick a team and they would’ve come up with something better than that.
So stay in League 1 but sell on young players to bigger clubs? Coz that's our future....We ain't going up...transitioning to younger players with likely resale value. We may not be where we want to be, but instead of a squad full of plodders who are mid-to-late 20s on high wages and who've peaked in L1, at least the majority of the squad will be on lower wages with more likelihood of interest/higher value if & when we sell them.
For me it's more the timing of sacking Johnson. I don't think he would have lost today or would have at the very least changed a losing team. Was it his decision to play on during covid? Who would you have given the interim role to?
I wouldn’t have sacked a manager then pissed around for a week. Look at WBA.Was it his decision to play on during covid? Who would you have given the interim role to?
he's not qualified to do the job he is being paid for, and KLD has put all his faith into the bloke for some reason. He’s got to be under massive pressure now mind. Not impressed at all.
Given his surname he speaks a lot,but doesn't say anything. He’s got to be under massive pressure now mind. Not impressed at all.
This is always the problem looking from the outside in. None of us know what he does day in day out and whether he does it well or not. That goes for CEOs, COOs, and backroom staff. There needs to be someone to blame and the manager has gone so who is next. What exactly does he do anyway?
What is his deliverable?
Someone should have been lined up before the sacking but has that come from KLD pushing the button rather than pressure from Speakman? For me it's more the timing of sacking Johnson. I don't think he would have lost today or would have at the very least changed a losing team.
Yes. Either sack Johnson and replace him or keep him. They've presumably thought a change in manager might help us reach automatics but throwing away an easy win against bottom of the league away seems to be an error. New manager has an insane job on his or her hands now.I wouldn’t have sacked a manager then pissed around for a week. Look at WBA.
Younger players generally mean higher talent ceilings...So stay in League 1 but sell on young players to bigger clubs? Coz that's our future....We ain't going up...

I think it can work with right formation / setup. That defensive mid role is crucial tho. Hopefully even our current caretaker 'manager' can see it aswell. My concern is he’s creating a lightweight under 23s team. Which is great, apart from the fact league one teams beat them regularly in the pizza cup
I wouldn't have either, it should have been agreed before Johnson was let go. Has the 6-0 made KLD jump the gun and right at the end of the window where the focus needs to be on getting the players in. There absolutely needs to be someone in place by Monday.I wouldn’t have sacked a manager then pissed around for a week. Look at WBA.
