Roy Keane

It's tongue-in-cheek - nobody should really worry about grown adult athletes being frightened of a football manager, either. It's just a list of nonsense as daft as any of the other bananas reasons anyone might prefer Grant McCann to Roy Keane.
I think very, very few would prefer McCann to Keane but there is a chance that Keane will turn us down. Then we have to think of who will be offered the job. McCann has very little outward charisma but did a great job taking Hull up as champions playing attacking football. He is nowhere near as bad as some make out. The thought of Lennon/Warnock/Woodgate being appointed would utterly depress me. However, I think we have a structure around any coach coming in that is better than Hull's or the majority Championship clubs. If Keane turns us down I would go for Alex Neil but I could live with McCann as there are some definite boxes ticked with him. He is not another Parkinson.

Despite a certain section of fans talking the club down. We are a massive club at this level and the stress/panic inside the dressing room towards the 'Fear' of failure, is far greater than most other clubs at this level and it why we've always needed only the strongest of leaders and why we've been in the toilet bowl of history since Allardyce left.

Keane is a force of nature in the game, because he tells the ugly truth and the club is crying out for transparency and honesty. I hope he's learned from his mistakes as we all try to learn from them ourselves. At heart his job is to put 11 players out on the pitch who have no fear of coming off the pitch having not given 100%. The recruitment and coaching he needs good people around him and I think we will the win playoffs.
Bang on

Loved this , was only going to watch 5/10 minutes but just watched it all. Starting to love Keane again

Just watched that when i should've been working - only meant to watch a few mins like you but got drawn in. I'm sold - the man has charisma and authority, and importantly he has clearly grown as a man and recognises where he has made errors in the past and where he could've managed better. Get him in now, i say!

He also did a pretty shit job with them in the championship taking them from mid table to relegated rock bottom. Their fans couldn’t stand him.

Or someone like Dan Neill. Been brought up being a sunderland fan, been at the academy for years, heard all the stories about keane, then he's managing you.

Henderson tells a story about how the reserves/youths got absolutely hammered by Gateshead.

Keane was at the game and went in after it. He went ballistic at them and asked them all if they were thought they were good enough to play for the first team.

Henderson was the only one who said yes. The next week he was brought into training with the first team squad and it all began from there for Jordan.

Then he won the lot 😎

Just announce the bugger - it'd be fecking lift off tomorrow at the match, can you imagine the atmosphere? Keane in the stands watching like he was at the West Brom (?) game before his first spell, and Defoe comes on to score the fifth goal in the 85th minute.

A couple of posts have been deleted because of potentially libellous content.

Can we all please be a bit careful about what we post on here, even in jest.

Moderators don't have time to sort out fact from scurrilous rumours and as a result anything remotely libellous will be deleted on safety first grounds.

Repeat offenders may well attract warnings.

Thank you.

cos neither the ticket office nor the stadium manager would be able to cope with having to open the premier concourse with the demand for tickets with a couple of days notice!
They should be able to do it easily. People seem to think it's a lot more complicated than it actually is.

Alex Neil all day for me. He would be my choice irrespective of Keane tbh

I don't know. I just think people are far more lenient towards Keane for emotional reasons rather than practical ones.

But that works. When the crowd is behind the team it works. Look at our home form this season. If we go a goal down but the whole stadium is rocking itll help. Keane will get more leniancy from the crowd. Defoe coming on will get a boost from the crowd. This is the kind of thing that can help win games

My feelings and opinions exactly.
You obviously need help marra.

Wasn't that high a spend in the Championship. Was less than 6m which to go from bottom to top was remarkable.
In my mind all of his first season signings worked and I think they were Roy Keane signings rather than the owners / chairman (Drumaville / Quinn)

Miller had Celtic and Man Utd history - big success
Wallace celtic - big success
Varga celtic - injuries so can’t really judge
Kavanagh - Ireland - big success
Connolly - Ireland - big success
Yorke Man Utd - big success
Evans - Man Utd - massive success
Edwards - big success

Can’t remember if there were any others in the championship season

He also got the best out of Leadbitter and nyron and even Murphy probably played his best stuff for us under Keane

Then his signings the following year (chopra, mcshane, higginbotham…?) did the job and it was only when the likes of chimbonda and diouf appeared that it went a bit wayward but I felt it was more off the pitch that it went wayward

The big question for me is will he buy into KLD and Speakman’s “project” or will he want more autonomy.

his player selection, motivation, tactics are all absolutely fine with me

Odonovan and Halford?

His main fault was discarding of his own players quickly if they didn’t do it immediately. We couldn’t get rid of the feckers.
