Yeah, it's only just become apparent that the ownership are so desperate to go up this season over the development of the long term plan. If that's the case then I suppose he's as good as anyone.

Aye. Those lads have got a side promoted to the premier league before. 👍
I don't think you can develop the long term plan at this level. The long term plan isn't League 1 football. We need out.

Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Surely you see the positives and how the club is building with a clearly defined plan?

No point throwing it all away because it hasn’t been perfect instantly.

There have been 2 windows for the new regime where they’ve done a great job which is the majority opinion, we’ve improved a lot on the pitch in both style, and to an extent, results.

LJ couldn’t take the club forward in the eyes of the management team so they are looking at an upgrade there.

KTF!😁
I see what you are saying, but the fact remains no real progress has been made in terms of success on the pitch.

The windows have largely brought loans, adding no value financially, or long term team stability.

It looks progressive, but thats because we are comparing it to the last shower that were in charge.

This is a chance to make a real difference.

This, you can't have long term plans in league one.
I'm sure Dan Neil and Ross Stewart will be part of our plans, if we don't go up they'll be gone and we start again.🤷‍♂️

We have 17 games to win if we intend to achieve promotion. Admittedly we were just relegated when Keane took over last time but it took him the best part of 26 games and 5 months to get the team on a winning run and then only after a transfer window .I loved the Keane era and have many happy memories of it.
He does not have the time now. We badly need a defensive coach like Steve Bould or that ilk to sort out our defence or else we wont get anywhere this season,I suspect Flanagan's form went off in January because the club told him his contract would not be renewed. Not ideal better to promise a year renewal if we are promoted.

What are Keane's coaching skills. Last time he left most of the coaching to Sbragia and Loughlin.
Only Pop Robsons second coming to the club proved worthwhile and I hope JD proves to be a similar success to Pop.
No returning manager has succeeded. I still have nightmares regarding the Alan Brown managerial return in the 60s and there is the more recent Dick Advocaat failure too! Both costly mistakes.

Short term I am not convinced without an identified defence coach of some known reputation( not Micah Richards,as he couldnt defend himself), Keane can succeed!

Can we even afford Keane?
last time he was here he was on a reported £5m a year.
and that was 14 years ago
I don’t think it’s about money for him at this stage tbh. I think he’s got something to prove, and I hope that’s the case.
If he’s all in 100%, and KLD and Speakman recognise he’s forgot more about football than they know, it could be a match made in Heaven. Let him deal with the football side of things and provide him with the tools to do the job.
As long as he’s all in, fully. I think he will be.

It's an interesting point but I'm still amused/bemused that we are happy to abandon it after almost one year. Maybe we aren't mind and this Roy Keane is a lot more pragmatic than the last one. 🤷
