Giles

Strauss is an absolute legend like

He’s up there with any name in the history of English cricket. Ruthless but yet successful

Trust him fully and no surprise to see this happen when he is involved
Nasser on SkySports News eulogising about Giles like he's snuffed it

Only problem with cricket it’s a small world and most of them are mates

Giles is a canny bloke I’m sure but he shouldn’t getting praised he got basic decisions wrong

Nasser has admitted that Giles made mistakes, notably scrapping national selector and putting all responsibilty on Silverwood who wasn't qualified for such widespread responsibility. He rightly pointed out that there were factors outside his control e.g packed schedules, lack of preparation time, covid and resulting isolation. He tried to protect his players by squad rotation because of the heavy schedule,Nasser says he wouldn't criticise someone for protecting his players. He admits Giles is a mate, was a good team man under his captaincy. Suppose it is difficult to be wholly objective when you're judging a good mate.
