Maybe ECB are giving him the opportunity to step down voluntarily a la Giles.
I was against Giles from the start, not just hindsight
He just doesnt have it
Competent defensive spinner but he has been very poor in both England roles

Everyone's favourite Dobell has an interesting view on this he believes Giles is a " scapegoat" and had no power and that everything is down to Harrison.
Harrison is in charge of a rudderless ship. The ECB board, in an attempt to diversify, consist mainly of non -cricket people who are happy to rubber stamp anything Harrison says.
I’m no fan of Harrison right
And dobell is a decent and Intersting journo
But he hates Giles and Harrison. They tried to sue him
Giles has been terrible
In my view he’s been worse than silverwood
