I still maintain O’Neill was. I think he was sacked too early. I didn’t like the Moyes appointment.

I was however wrong on Coleman who I thought was an excellent appointment.
I also think there's a lot of luck in football management. Sometimes managers get lucky with players as some players just seem to thrive at certain clubs

I’d be genuinely fuming if Keane gets the job. We’ve had this “philosophy” and “data driven” approach stuff pushed down our throats since the summer and we’ve clearly gone about our business in a certain way and signed players we probably wouldn’t have a year before. It feels to me that we’re sticking two fingers up to that to live in the past by re-appointing a manager who had some success with us fifteen years ago, someone who hasn’t worked as a manager in twelve years, has barely lasted a year in jobs as an assistant at club level since and doesn’t appear to “fit”. Can anyone honestly see Keane wanting to work with a Director of Football and wanting to work with a data driven approach to recruitment?

It’s a firm no from me. He’s not the right fit. We’ve got into the position we’re in under Johnson, sometimes in spite of him, but we’re in a pretty good position with a squad that is probably as good as any at this level and it feels as though we’re throwing that to the wayside to hope to replicate something years ago.

End of the day we know more than any other set of fans that whoever the manager is there's absolutely no guarantees about how well they will do.
I mean we've had big names who've had a proven track record and they were a disaster
We've had managers in their first jobs like Reid and Keane who got us promoted. It's almost impossible to predict how well a manager will do.
Reid was sacked by Man City before he came to us.

Sounds like an article designed to get lots of views rather than providing us with any meaningful insight into the recruitment process…

I thought all 3 would be great and Bruce and Poyet and Ross. Something must have changed and I was depressed when we appointed Parkinson and depressed when we appointed Johnson who I thought was an utter bluffer. For me, I like what the new regime is doing. Our style of play is better, our recruitment seems better. I am happy to put faith in them. If they talk to a number of candidates and pick the best fit for us to get promoted and take the club on I'll support them. If they think Keane is the wrong man I'll support them.
