That's it, I've got nothing against those players.
We just could have signed better players for less money.

Well for one, we never fielded that back 5, ever.Naturally, the fee paid for them isn't their fault. That doesn't mean that spunking nearly 40m (that was huge money for us at that time) on a defense that was absolutely shocking wasn't incredibly bad recruiting/management
If we’re doing a 6 month deal - and I think we perhaps should- then we should be going for allardyce. No misgivings about the transfer policy as we’d be out of the window. The Keane sugar rush could be interesting, but he just doesn’t have the football knowledge to fall back on that allardyce does.If we are appointing on a 6 month contract. Get keane back in, we won't be getting any good proven manager anyway for that. So roll the dice.
He had a very strong philosophy when he was here, it just wasn't part of the football lingo of the time.
It's a bit of an insult to the likes of Kierkegaard to call what passes for a 'footballing philosophy' a real philosophy anyway.
Doubt he'd take it.If we’re doing a 6 month deal - and I think we perhaps should- then we should be going for allardyce. No misgivings about the transfer policy as we’d be out of the window. We signed Keywyne. Ten+ goals a season. Tremendous.Aye. signing a 9m keeper was just madness for a team promoted from the championship. we could have got a perfectly servicable keeper for a fraction of that and spent that on the striker or midfielder we needed. he had terrible trouble with injuries but even if he'd stayed fit it was fairly batshit to blow so much of our budget on gordon. ferdinand was a good signing for us overall, just a very inflated fee. mcshane particularly and higginbotham were fairly shit but cheap players who filled roles. mccartney was a bad bad signing, having sold him for 175k then buying him back for 6m was just shite.
looked at individually is one thing though, but viewed as a whole it was a true clusterfuck. and his scattergun transfer approach was littered with examples like this.
Keane brought Evans in on 2 loans and Short wouldn't pay the fee, instead deciding to spend a few million here n there, that added up to a big waste of shite. Funnily enough he did the same thing again years later with VVD.
I wouldn't blame Keane on every transfer that was made when the owner was clearly shit scared of big fee transfers, even after Keane had left the same mistakes were being made.
Shove enough cash under his nose and he would I reckon. Would be a different twist on his annual Red Adair act. And he’s lost his perfect run with WBA was so I don’t see him getting that PL rescue job this season.Doubt he'd take it.
I think that’s bollocks tbf. Nobody is getting promoted because they ‘want it more’ these days.
We signed Keywyne. Ten+ goals a season. Tremendous.
We signed Chopra - scored some vital goals, did a job on the right.
We did decent business getting Cisse here on loan.
Who were we gonna sign who was better, and cost less money?
Up until a certain game, Chopra did an alright job for us, especially in that first season. You could argue his goal at Villa was the one that kept us up. We were a newly promoted side. What were people really expecting?if you're going to cherry pick his best signings to prove your point and out of two you've used michael chopra as an example, i think we're both know his transfer record was patchy at best
But that’s not a promotion that’s built solely on sweat, determination and balls. Teams that go up may have some/all of those elements but they’re also good teams for their level who are well drilled, do specific things better than their rivals and more often than not have a plan. If it was only about having balls then that fat Scottish mess would have taken gillingham up years ago. They clearly do want it more. This level of football is utter shite mate, it's the teams that do the simple things well that usually have the most success, with players you wouldn't bat an eyelid at.
Doesn't really matter if he came in for 6 months does it?if you're going to cherry pick his best signings to prove your point and out of two you've used michael chopra as an example, i think we're both know his transfer record was patchy at best
Be class.

I have thought this but we have seen a Keane who has matured and reflected on his failings and shows genuine regret at how things ended at Safc. We were in the premier league 15 years ago and he adapted well to the task. It’s clear when you watch the prem those many years ago, that standard was probably comparable if not higher than league 1. Yes the game has moved on but so has he. I’d welcome him back.Game has moved beyond him very quickly I think. Unable to adapt to modern management, which is a shame because I love the bloke and he would motivate them well.
Would take him over McCarthy; who the guardian are saying is on the shortlist mind. Jesus Christ.
