Basically all transfers nowadays experience some form of amortisation. If you buy a 40m player over 4 years it’s not uncommon to pay 10m a year.

Advantage, you can spend more, quicker.
Disadvantage, youll be paying the price of a bad transfer in several subsequent years

Amortisation is nothing to do with payment for the transfer. Amortisation is simply non-cash accounting to spread the capital cost of a transfer over the life of a contract. So the full transfer cost is capitalised as an intangible asset, and an amount of cost/x, where x is the number of years of the contract. This applies even where the fee is all paid upfront. The cash payments can be, and usually are, on a totally different basis, although the purchase period, although the instalments would usually be in a period less than or equal to the contract length.
 
Can't remember any nufc fans coming our actively supporting that coach or Cisse. Or the club playing him with knowledge of what had gone on. But that's not worth dragging up
