Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Haven’t the Germans stopped people using their airspace to monitor the Russians or for military aircraft?
No, intel gathering aircraft have gone through Germany according to Flight radar. C17s with anti tank missiles from the UK haven't gone through but Berlin claim they were never asked for dip clearances.

The German stance is an interesting one though, they're still selling arms and to some dodgy regimes. They've obviously got a bit of history with Russia - understatement. I'm not sure they're as squeaky clean as some like to make out.
This seems to have been “imminently” kicking off for a few weeks now…
A bit like our signings.

What "Euro crisis'? That's Daily Telegraph speak. I assume you mean an Italian debt and current deficit funding crisis, they have had several of those.

There will be sanctions, Germany does not want to get involved militarily as it is essentially a pacificist state these days.
Isn't the issue that Germany wants gas from Russia, so doesn't want to impose sanctions.

C'mon, "what Euro crisis?"

I'm not sure even ardent Europhiles would argue that didn't happen.

It was an existential crisis for the Euro project. It was a fundamental problem that was manufactured by the flaws in the single currency and the draconian measures brought in by the Troika to avert collapse.

Another British harbinger of Euro doom raises his head. It was a cashflow problem for some countries who couldn't borrow in the market when there was a worldwide banking crisis. Some of these countries like Greece were also warned to tighten their belts and stop overspending by the main organisation who lent them money and forgave the Greeks massive debts. So nothing draconian, just sensible stuff and not an existential crisis for the Euro which is clearly just wishful thinking by a percentage of the British.

But if you belive it is then please do tell us all when the Euro ends will you? I need a laugh today.

What debts have Greece been forgiven? You don’t think what The Troika did to Greece wasn’t draconian?

Ask yourself, as time has progressed do more and more people adhere to your message here? Is the world getting better? Children want to eat sweets for every meal but we inflict unto them great harm by forcing them to eat their vegetables. The world is not an endless vinegar stroke until death.
The only thing I know of life is how to live it without scarring it...if that's not enough, so be it.

The measures put in place for Greece were heroic not draconian. Without these it would have become another Argentina.

Statistics shows the national debt of Greece from 2016 to 2020, with projections until 2026. In 2020, the national debt in Greece was around 397.68 billion U.S. dollars. In a ranking of , Greece is currently ranked second.

So no debt written off.

If you were broke and also owed 100k to the bank, went to them and they said - no problem you don't have to start paying it back for another 50 years, you won't pay any interest on it for 20 years and by the way here is another interest delayed 100k to keep you going, you might be relieved too. Debt relief is equivalent to writeoff in financial terms as interest is not rolled up into further debt.

And Greece has just been given a free €32billion in Covid relief funds by the ECB. When will this torture ever end?

Ukraine security chief says Western alarmism is helping Russia. Wonder if the natives aren't as a supportive of the tub thumping as they'd hoped?

"Greece has just been given a free €32billion in Covid relief funds by the ECB".

So this is not added to the Greek debt? Are you sure?

They had no choice. The whole banking system would have collapsed. Luckily for the tax payers of the EU they have taken on the liabilities.
I have no axe to grind. A successful Eu is essential for the uk but no need to pretend everything is fine and dandy.

Just watched Warship on Ch5 actually and it’s insightful of the sort of high stakes military interactions that happen seemingly every day

I think it's our own media 'analysts', and politicians that have us on strings, from the interview:

Alexei Danilov:The number of Russian troops is not increasing in the form in which a lot is painted today. Whether they have maneuvers there - yes, but they were in them all the time. This is their territory, they have the right to sow there to the left, to the right. Is it unpleasant for us? Yes, it's unpleasant, but it's not news to us. If this is news to anyone in the West, I'm sorry.
