In 2021 the US imported more oil from Russia than ever before in their history - at the start of the year cancelled a major pipeline from Canada because trump had approved it and Biden wanted to show his green credentials. ,Then gasoline prices jumped, near $4 a gallon..Biden panics..Hey Vlad my old chum..can we get more oil?

Meanwhile trying to get Germany to cancel the Nordstream 2 gas pipeline. yeah so they can flog LNG to Europe

Gotta love the US of A. always looking after their allies. lol. They'll fuck over Ukraine at the drop of a hat.

EU foreign ministers meeting in Brussels today to decide on sanctions for Russia if they attack Ukraine.
Going to be interesting to see who's in and who's out.

What about France and Italy?

Macron's notion of an EU army is motivated by the desire to be more independent of US oversight and Italy have been forging closer ties with Russia since the Euro crisis.

What "Euro crisis'? That's Daily Telegraph speak. I assume you mean an Italian debt and current deficit funding crisis, they have had several of those.

There will be sanctions, Germany does not want to get involved militarily as it is essentially a pacificist state these days.

Greece, Portugal, Ireland and Cyprus too. There was huge balance of payments crisis that had the EU in turmoil.
 
Estonian news are reporting that Germany have blocked Estonia from supplying javelin systems to the Ukrainians. Made in the USA but initially purchased by Germany. Public opinion of the Germans is at an all time low in Estonia it seems.

I didn’t actually watch the news report I must add, one of my partners in Tallinn was telling me whilst we spoke earlier. A few worried folk in Estonia.

Not sure. It’s understandable from their pov why Germany are taking this stance but it’s doing nothing for their reputation in Estonia. Can’t imagine the other Baltic nations see things any different from the Estonians either.

To be honest I take what my mate says with a pinch of salt, he’s extremely anti Russian, as are many over there.

I remember a few years back on one of my trips there, @aiFo took me on a road trip and one of the places we went was the narrow point of the big lake separating Russia from Estonia. There was a watch tower you could climb up on the Estonian side and look across the water to Russia and see the odd troops hanging around over there.

We also drove across into Latvia. The Russians would be able to sweep up the Baltic countries without breaking sweat if they really wanted to, but having them in the EU makes it a much more political rather than military exercise now.

Near Narva I think you mean. There’s some cracking pictures kicking about of that tower and area during ww2. It’s quite a fascinating area if you’re interested in ww2 and such.

The Baltic's have always been vulnerable, even together they are weak as piss and they know it, it’s why they are slightly on edge atm. Quite a sizeable population of Russians in Estonia and there is always some bullshit between them. Schooling is the hot topic of the last few years whenever I've been there, many want Russian schools banned.

Stalin murdered tens of thousands of Baltic citizens. Russian occupation brought nothing but misery. Don't blame them for being nervous.

Those Eastern European countries that were occupied by Russia aren’t fond of Russians. I wonder how the population of the former East Germany feel about things?
