NUFC Sportswashing 2022

Spot-on. I've said all along the investment part leads to them being far from the richest club in the world.
This fund was set-up in 1970 and is to make even more money when the oil runs out. They aren't going to be throwing billions of their countries wealth fund at a failing club just to get them to compete when the sportswashing has already been done by useful idiots for a fraction of that.
I've thought all along this is to get the telly rights and a foot in the door. We'll soon see if the Inter Milan deal happens what their plans are for Newcastle and it won't be to be dominaging Europe, if it does.
I Agree Jack however when was it implied that this was about "dominating Europe"?
City have spent 100's of millions, probably close on a billion, and not come close to dominating Europe. The long term plan can't be any more than qualify regularly surely?

I wish Watford wad wake up.
I say it every week. They will wake up when they get rid of Ranieri. There’s no way they are keeping him next season whether they stay up or not so just get rid now.

EDDIE HOWE has confirmed he will take his players to Saudi Arabia for a training camp in the aftermath of tomorrow’s game at Leeds United.

However, the Magpies head coach has declined to comment on whether he will meet Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman as part of the trip.
As if it will be choice man

Newcastles fans are thick as fk, all going down the line of Ashley having to loan someone £10m to not say anything bad but not questioning why she had to loan £10m in the first place

@Exile 1968 maybe link this maggot to the companies house document showinhlg Mandy borrowed money from Big Mike?

Michael Martin's take on sportswashing is a new one.

Apparently it doesn't count as sportswashing if sportswashing began prior to Newcastle's purchase.

There is no place for intolerance in our game; my teenage self believed that and I agree with him (me). I have to be honest, I’m not sure about Mussolini’s views on rigorous questioning, open debate and a free press, but I hope mine are reasonably transparent.
This is the bit that gets me. You might not be sure of Mussolini's views on those things George, but you know damn well what Bin Salman's are, because he has such people carved up with bonesaws. Yet you still choose to parrot propaganda for his PR woman.

All those hand-wringing, weasel words about Di Canio, who, let's be honest, was a cosplay fascist. Bin Salman doesn't need tattoos or salutes, because he's the real deal. He does his talking with summary executions and genocide.

This is the part I love…

The attempt to stifle debate is self-defeating and ludicrous, because the debate is important. Debate helped the game evolve to where it is. It challenges our perceptions, forces us to (at least temporarily) abandon our own certainties and listen to others. “We are a football club,” Byrne said and here she was right; one lodged deep in its community and with a responsibility to it.

Lots to pick apart in this. Firstly, if you wanted to pay someone off to have them keep their mouth closed you would do just that. You wouldn't loan them money, let alone loan them it with them paying interest.

Secondly, you can't force someone to borrow money off you and make them pay it back over time.

And then there is the question of why of earth Stavely would be so desperate for some cash she would go to Ashley, tail between her legs, and promise not to say anything bad about him, to get it.

Why need it at all? Why not go to a lender?

And why the fuck is it such a problem he's asking for it back and she needs to fight a legal battle to not pay it back?

She sounds like shes broke, desperate and clueless and her whole involvement is bizarre at best and extremely deteimental to club club at worst.

But ( supposedly) widely popular football team, bomb Yemen and kill children playing football nearby. Send recently purchased popular football team to Saudi and be seen with them to cleanse image. The whole sportswashing thing fails if the club are roundly disliked. Newcastle fans have somehow achieved this. Quickly. At this rate, The Saudis reputation will be tarnished by association to the mags.
