All this shite about him signing for Newcastle as they were his team was rubbish, he signed as they were a quality team at the time. No way would he have signed if they were mid table.

At the time he was said to be wanted by Man United, which was a better prospect as Champions, but he would only sign for Newcastle once they agreed a record figure, as you say the hometown club stuff was nothing but spin once they had him.
