As I said before, some players will be rich enough so even a bit extra on their current/potential wages elsewhere won't tempt them to gonto a relegation threatened club. If the Mags go down, they would be labelled as failed money grabbing mercenaries.

Not ignoring the fact that Wilson is out for a period weakening the team, that loss to Cambridge and draw to Watford has no doubt done damage to their transfer window hopes. If they'd won Saturday then it would have looked so much better but if Watford beat Burnley tomorrow it will look even worse for the Mags

I read the comments on there and they are nuts! They can't see why he wouldn't be interested!

The issue is that they're so reliant on online fan support that they can't afford to go against consensus. And online football fans are very, very sensitive to anything that goes against their view. To be fair to Edwards, he didn't go along with a lot of the takeover fantasising before it was announced, but runs an absolutely cringeworthy Twitter account and is now a fully signed up member of Mandy's PR team.

They're seemingly just useful idiots for the new regime. For as much as they're willing to repeat whatever line the press office tells them to, the actual transfer scoops tend to come from Italians and other journalists who don't actually cover Newcastle for a living.

Fabrizio Romano is the fella you're on about I think. He's one of the very few journos who has reliable contacts. The rest are mainly bluffers and guessers.

Jesus. He’s played two games. One against a league one team they lost against. What a desperate statement.
Agree. I mean he’s so far played two home games against Cambridge and Watford in which they’ve failed to win, and by all accounts has been rather ordinary

Mags have clearly been utter shite for decades then if this is the case already. At least we agree there Luke

Does no one else think it wud be bad news if we got promoted and the mags got relegated and ended up in same division ?

After the initial laughing out loud and general frivolity that would follow another mag relegation, the grim realisation would surely sink in that 1 of the 3 promotion spots was booked and more importantly, they'd be able to buy the experienced players needed to get them up, whilst we we'd still be tinkering about paying as little as possible for players who might make it.

The 9 derby match unbeaten run vs them would be under very serious threat next season if we went up and they went down imho. Is that really what we want ? Just asking.

Possibly but we can’t hang around down here forever. I’d rather take my chances against the mags in the Championship than play in League One.
