We actually do get balls into the box. The difference is we don't have anyone who is there to attack it apart from Wilson and he doesn't possess that physical bullying power to make anything of most. Wood will be a proper target man and actually offer much more end product for a better mindset of getting more balls into that area. Trippier will massively add to this but we have many players capable of doing so.

As it stands all we can do is talk it up or down.
Only time will tell if it works but I have to admit I am optimistic.

But he does.

Clearly not the case.

He's a decent striker.
A change may just reignite his goal tally.
How many assists has Trippier got this season for Madrid?

I think a few loan signings will be on the card from us from now on rather than spending big money.
That's the sensible way forward from this point on as it doesn't impact us on FFP for the summer....assuming we stay up, which I'm hopeful we will.
Nothing deluded about it.
We've definitely strengthened and a decent experienced centre half would be enough for us to sneak over the line to safety, I think.

I’ve seen what happens when you “think” matey😂😜

Yep, much prefer how our club has been ran.

1. Relegated without putting up a fight,
2. Relegated again without putting up a fight,
3. Four (and counting), pathetic seasons in the third division.
We’re shit but Norwich seem fine to settle for getting relegated every time they are in the premier league

This Diego Carlos must be some player coming up 29 never been capped by Brazil and played for some real giants of the game before his move to Sevilla

Estoril
Porto (B)
Nantes

£30m gets you a bog standard defender these days … Just seen they want £40m 😮😂

 All over the place, just like your scattergun transfer policy.

They're buying a player now from a fellow bottom free team struggler for £25 million

Told you this would happen, they are paying over the rocker for bang average players.

This is stage 1 for Newcastle. Buy experienced, proven players to stabilise them, knowing that in the long run those players will have little sell on value or longevity, and won't be good enough/young enough for the heights Newcastle want to hit.

Wood and Trippier are clearly good signings for Newcastle. Yes they are both the wrong side of 30 and they will be overpaying them, and they'll never get their money back. But that's not the game they're playing, right now. Having said all that, it would hilarious if they still go down and have a bunch of 30+ year old players on skyrocket salaries 🙂
Wood “might” go on and be decent for them, however the facts are Wilson has 6 in 15 and the Mags have only won once this season. They’re replacing him while injured with Wood who has 3 in 21 this season at Burnley who have also only won once this season. He isn’t scoring or winning games for Burnley, so why expect him to do it immediately for the Mags

£25m is a huge amount for a 30 year old in poor form. They keep saying he’s a good target man. When has that ever been what the mags have wanted too. Big Sam anyone?

Regardless of all that though is the Mags convincing themselves that Howe and Wood are answer, even short term.
All those tea towels for that

He's scored double figures in every season he's been at Burnley - a team who barely score goals. He's also big and very strong. He'll be a very useful player. The fee and his age are irrelevant, because they've got a load of blood-money, and he's a signing for the next year or 2. Like I say, stage 1.
