Wrestling - Part 3

MLW Files a Lawsuit Against WWE

Big Announcement Coming Tonight from MLW

MLW has filed an anti-trust lawsuit against WWE.

MLW announced this evening that the lawsuit was filed earlier today in a federal court. The lawsuit is based on “WWE’s ongoing attempts to undermine competition in and monopolize the professional wrestling market by interfering with MLW’s contracts and business prospects.”

MLW’s announcement on the lawsuit included the following allegations against WWE, noting that WWE has pressured third parties to abandon contracts and prospective relationships with MLW, including a major streaming deal. It was also alleged that in early 2021, a then-WWE executive warned Vice TV that WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon was “pissed” that Vice was airing MLW programming, and that Vice should stop working with the promotion.

“As described in the complaint, WWE pressured third parties to abandon contracts and prospective relationships with MLW. WWE’s misconduct included disrupting every level of MLW’s business, including a major streaming deal for MLW which would have been transformative for the company.

MLW also allege in the complaint that in early 2021, after MLW announced that it was in talks with VICE TV to air MLW programs on VICE TV, a then-WWE executive warned VICE TV that WWE owner Vince McMahon was “pissed” that VICE TV was airing MLW programs, and that VICE TV should stop working with MLW, the VICE TV executive responded that WWE’s conduct was illegal and an antitrust violation, with the WWE executive responding that she could not control McMahon.”

MLW CEO Court Bauer provided a statement on the anti-trust lawsuit and said the behavior has to stop.

“WWE has been wrongfully depriving its competitors of critical opportunities for many years, but its latest conduct has been even more unconscionable,” Bauer said. “I think we speak for the rest of the professional wrestling world when we say that this anti-competitive behavior has to stop.”

MLW added in their press release issued to us this evening, “WWE’s ongoing misconduct has hurt fans of professional wrestling and competition in the professional wrestling industry. Through this lawsuit, MLW seeks to recover its losses due to WWE’s interference and to enjoin WWE from future interference.”

The federal case is captioned MLW Media LLC v. World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. MLW is represented by Kasowitz Benson Torres LLP, which is headquartered in New York City.

Once a carny always a carny.

Hasn’t anyone from Major League Wrestling been around the last 30 or so years?

Vinny has been doing that since the 80s. MLW is just the latest in a long line. It wasn’t just WCW and ECW. Smaller promotions like SMW (Smokey Moutain Wrestling) which is famous for James E Cornette and tag teams like The Heavenly Bodies and Rock and Roll Express went to the wall largely because WWF as was had a monopoly on the industry. It financially could not compete. ROH and Impact! survive because it’s too large to kill in the short term.

I see Corey Graves just got cleared to wrestle again, good for him, I don’t really like his persona on commentary but the bloke should be applauded for getting himself fit and medically cleared for an in ring return.

What was it that stopped him previously?

Watched the last 8 weeks of Dynamite on demand having not watched AEW since the first few months of it starting, topper stuff really impressed. MJF is an absolute star like. Was watching the other day and my Wife said God what is that awful noise.....ah that's just Vicki Guerrero
Can someone tell me please.....if I record Dynamite and Rampage on ITV is that everything for AEW? What is AEW Dark? Do they have PPVs? Winter is Coming was on ITV so that wasn't a PPV right....? I know I could Google this stuff but I'll get a clearer answer on here.

There is also Dark and Elevation on YouTube if you really want to go deep. They are free shows with loads of matches but usually established wrestler V unnamed jobber and pretty much only matches rather than promos / storylines.

I'm all in (pun intended) with AEW but I rarely watch those two shows.

Winter is Coming was just a Dynamite. They quite often give their Dynamite's tag lines.

They do have PPVs too - Double or Nothing, Full Gear, All Out to name a few and they tend to be fantastic, with all matches living up to expectations. Something you can’t take for granted looking at WWE!

Face Lesnar is so refreshing and the only thing watchable in WWE right now.

Looks like he's genuinely enjoying the role also.

Aren’t wwe the company that “Burned someone alive” and “Pulled Rey Mysterios eye out”, they were both terrible but the point stands.😂😂😂
Tony Khan and AEW should make a shirt out of this and I’d actually buy the fucker 😂

The hypocrisy is insane. During the Attitude Era many times the WWF had matches where people bled. One of the best and most iconic was the Undertaker v Mankind in a steel cage. The Taker throwing him off the top of the cage into the announcers table and Mankind being body-slammed into tacks. And another iconic image is Bret Hart getting Stone Cold in the Sharpshooter and blood pouring down Steve’s face.

Practice what you preach Vinny.

Bubby Ray Dudley powerbombing Mae Young through a table.
Vince making Trish Stratus strip in the middle of the ring to humiliate her.
LayCool bullying Mickie James over her weight and calling her Piggy James.

Not as gory as the women's street fight but not exactly a great look for women in pro wrestling.

Anyone who mutes his replies for likes should be powerbombed through a table, never mind Mae Young. This is more clickbait than a Jake Paul video.

The more glaring issue at hand is how Smackdown is slowly becoming a sell-out show for sponsorships, last week we had Jonny Knoxville eliminating Zayn for the new Jackass and we had some debutant pinning Natalya in 3 seconds promoting Guinness Book of Records of 2022.

Let's be honest, fuck the clickbaits, fuck these pointless 5 minute segments with 2 ad breaks in between, because they're equally as trash.

Meltzer makes a good point in this video basically saying if it’s so bad why are they selling subscription’s to the network that has much worse on it from the late 90s and not taking it down if they have such a problem with it, like we all see it’s just hypocritical.

Mustafa Ali asked for his release as well, surprised he didn’t ask or get cut sooner in all honesty.
