I am absolutely convinced that in the main their followers were sure the rest of footy fans outside of their club would be delighted for them, such is their belief in the self proclaimed, self perpetuating myth of them being everyone’s favourite second club. Now that it’s clear that isn’t the case they seem to be unable and more lately unwilling to accept the reasons for this. To dismiss it as bitterness and jealousy is incredibly shallow and lazy and only serves to highlight their refusal to face the facts. As a club, and more particularly as a group of supporters it will take many generations to recover from their newly found pariah status. Whilst in general the media are avoiding this situation we all know how fickle they are. Nothing is forever. If those that would actively promote a despotic regime think they are badly done to now, I wonder how they will cope when the media turns and the shit really does hit the fan.Am reading Harry Pearson's book "The Farther Corner" on North East football. Published in 2020, so it will have been written before anyone heard of Saudi Arabia buying the mags. It includes this passage:
"It was true that the protests against the Ashley regime had been going on for a long time, or hadn't. Part of the problem was that there were so many different anti-owner groups. There was Magpie Group, NUFC360, If Rafa Goes We Go, Ashley Out, Mike Ashley Out, the Newcastle Supporters Group, the Newcastle Independent Supporters Group.... It all had a Life of Brian quality about it.
There was nothing new about fan protests at St James' Park either. I started going to St James' Park with my friend Steve when Gordon McKeag was running things. Back then the chants of 'Sack the Board' were to the Gallowgate End what Hail Marys are to St Peter's - it was an act of both faith and atonement. Much has changed at St James' in the thirty years since then, but the relationship between Newcastle supporters and the club's owners has remained more or less constant throughout."
It just isn't true that "any group of supporters would have reacted the same way to the takeover". No other fans go on the way they do. Only the mags would have done the petitions and tantrums pretending to have their mental health ruined to the extent that they did.

They are an absolute disgrace. Why would you? Honestly? He doesn’t support the home team. What is it with them and their obsession with “LOOK AT ME”? I can’t grasp it.Idiot obviously lost the use of his brain as well as his legs. Hope someone lets his tyres down
We will indeed go on to dominate English football. This will however be when Liverpool, City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal have joined the Super League. If they go on to dominate football like I think they will, then the comparisons between us and the scousers will never have been stronger.
Liverpool might have the trophies but Everton will always have the class. I know what I'd rather be
It’s mealy mouthed horseshit.Agree!!...is that his way of a thinly veiled apology?...not convinced.
MagI'm just not going to respond now. I'll apologise if I've said anything in the past which even remotely gives you the impression that I'm not a Sunderland supporter (which I couldn't have) and just move on and engage with others.
This place is an absolute echo chamber at times. I appreciate there seems to be a proportion of sad mags on here pretending to be lads (God knows why?!) and that you have cause in your suspicious approach, but I won't stop posting in a forum that's for Sunderland fans because of your misguided opinion.
Lee Ryder, that other cockwomble from the echo Wraiths mate, Caulkin? Absolute bollocks. It’s mealy mouthed horseshit.

bollocks.
I’d rather the club was a publicity vacuum than have any of those so called journalists anywhere near the place.Lee Ryder, that other cockwomble from the echo Wraiths mate, Caulkin? Absolute bollocks.
I know it shouldn't, but that last comment had me laugh out loud. Thank you.Alf Garnett bet he jumps up when Wycombe score
Knows he won’t get a beating because he’s old and disabled, hopefully one of our disabled fans gets stuck in![]()
