Drones

Cant be bothered to read back, just want to know what I have to spend on something that has a quality camera and is "easy fly"
Mini is great and very easy to fly

BUT mini uses wifi and not Occusync. Occusync is better, more range etc

And mini does not have obstacle avoidance which is very useful

And mini does not have active track which tracks nominated things - very useful when used for tracking sports

Crashed my Mini 2 just before Christmas, lost two of the gimbal shock absorbers and snapped one of the gimbal mounts.
I've epoxied the leg back together and the shock absorbers have came today and I'll fit them tomorrow.
It's cost me less than 7 quid to repair, thankfully. When it initially happened I thought it'd be hundreds.
Lucky there mate, how did you crash?

I think I clipped a telephone line. Whatever happened there was no one else to blame but myself as it was outside of eyesight.
I've been in that much of a huff with myself doing it I haven't even downloaded the video yet.

Heartbreaking i bet.

Hard to not take them out of LOS as the range and video quality is so good. Just unlucky really.

Will being high and in open countryside give me more range?
Aye. The major limiting factor is the amount of objects between the controller and the drone. Maintaining a clear line of sight between the drone and controller increases the possible range.
You can also buy Yagi range extenders for a couple quid which will increase the range but will require you to point the controller more accurately at the drone.

Head a read about Fresnel Zones, helped me understand things a bit more.

I can see probably see 50 miles looking West, so how would that work out range wise.

Think drones are limited to 6km range in the UK. I might be wrong though.
Have a look at

There's loads of really helpful and informed people on mavic pilots who can explain things much better than I can.

Do you ever feel like offering some SMB knobhead a Drone confrontation?

I can think of a few weapons I could fashion.

Ok, I've been reading about a Phillopino maid who nicked some jewelry, and was hoping that the end story was how she kept the police at bay with a drone :D

I take it you had a Bong moment.
You do realise you could be up against a recording of a SMB bellend quoting stats...that's just one notch down from nukes mate :D

It's Filipina 😉
That bellend quoting is something that's never bothered me at all on here, some are gold medallists at it 😂 but I do have a Drone 😉

Made me smile that you knew who I was talking about :D

Nb: Was looking for a drone that could lift a balloon full of paint, but the chap in question didn't get planning permission. I would have repainted his house every night...my idea, however, raised a few eyebrows with the Parish Council.

It's dangerous to say "any ideas" if I'm in the room :D
