Eh? What is going on.

Hopefully other clubs, including Everton kick off about it.

I do think that Everton will have wanted it postponed too mind, they’ve got a lot of injuries and their last game was called off.

That doesn’t make it right though, I simply don’t understand how injuries can count towards any kind of postponement.

Chelsea weren’t allowed to call a game off the other week when they had 7 covid cases iirc?

This needs looking into. Are teams being made to reveal PCR test results? Seems very apt the mags all of a sudden have cases of COVID after losing two key players.
They could ask. And if the mags told them to f**k off, what are they going to do about it? That’s where we are now mate. Cancelling games because clubs can’t put out their best side. It stinks.
Can't say who has covid due to medical privacy but happy to say someone has torn a calf muscle 🤷
Exactly.

I don't know how many noticed last night but Manquillo got booked for time wasting in the 95th minute. That was his 5th booking so he would have missed the Everton game and therefore another non covid missing player. He will have known this before kickoff so why do it so late in the game for something so stupid?

It seemed clear ASM and Wilson were injured though Fraser went off 'injured' in the 75th minute and Schar was holding his hamstring late in the game.

Do the Premier League have a limit of how many injuries/suspensions that are allowed when adding to covid cases? Given the likes of Chelsea have asked but were denied yet seemed to put out a decent team then why don't the PL come out and say how many are affected by covid and name them. I'd assume they are also checking tests are valid of course.

Everton have also had players out so possibly wouldn't have had anywhere near a full strength team out anyway but even you have to wonder just how many are due to covid and how many to injuries, especially with the Mags.

In howe's post game interview he said you have to be able to name 13 outfield players and a goalkeeper.
Last night we had only 8 on the bench instead of 9 and two of those were keepers.
So out of 19 players in the squad we had 16 outfield players. With 4 injuries/suspensions that takes us below the number. Although i don't see why we can't bring in academy players and just get on with it

Think they would prefer to play them now tbh mate

Fuckin joke decision that. So they were able to field a full squad last night but today have so many players testing positive they can’t play on Thursday? Cheating kernts.

Probably got MBS on the case. He's probably got Masters daughter
This could backfire on them as they are now probably going to be half way through the transfer window and still only have one win . It’s hardly the most attractive proposition to Mbappe etc .

Good point tbf

And clubs are willing to risk bankruptcy to get a sniff of its underpants. The whole set up is beneath contempt. And they keep going on about the integrity of the league 🤣🤣🤣 integrity is something it’s not had since it’s inception.

It's not the promised land.

The taking of the knee thing, MOTD proudly display every one of these religiously with at least one commentator saying last week "and there's the players taking the knee to show their support for all discrimination in it's various forms" (or words to that effect).

They've let the Government version of the Taliban buy a Premier League football club ffs 🤣🤣🤣🤣 but everyone taking the knee makes it fine and dandy and everyone is doing their bit.

The correct approach from the Premier League and EFL would have been a blanket “zero postponements” policy. Every club has a first team squad, and a reserve squad, and youth teams. If you get six Covid cases, bad luck, that’s why you have so many players on your books.

Anything short of that approach, opens the door for clubs to effectively pick and choose when they’d like to play their matches. That’s what’s happening now. Clubs are basically deciding when they’d like to play, to suit themselves. It makes a mockery of the whole competition.

Let’s not pretend that it’s only the mags either. Other clubs (including some around them in the bottom six) have already been at it.

Why have you only got a 19 man squad?

PL football is morally bankrupt so it’s no surprise that the money talks. The mags can now play the PL because of the money they can bring to it
Somewhat backs my view I've had for a good while now that full time football clubs in this country continue to take the piss with greed & selfish attitudes with zero consideration for fans... They're now using covid as an excuse to get games called off yet these clubs have reserve teams/youth teams, some of whom spend millions on reserve/youth develop..... You then look at the part time non league clubs, at least 90% of games on over Xmas. I've been to Spennymoor Vs Darlo and Blyth Vs Spennymoor in the last few days, two good games with one club having numerous covid cases & injuries yet were determined to play for the integrity of the game/competition, fair play to them. Shame on the full time league teams, it's an absolutely rotten game now football at the higher/full time level. Dock club points is the only solution.
