after the breakup of the USSR Ukraine was left with a lot of big arms factories including tank builders, they were in the top 5 arms exporters a few years back
 
Russia and Putin are very bold and nuclear weapons are a great leveller which means an all out war would never happen. But in reality in a conventional war the US would destroy Russia. The Russians have a huge number of people and a massive amount of ageing equipment and an equally large amount of bravado. But the US have been investing 10-15X in military spending what Russia has for decades. It was 11 times last year. They could park their navy in the Med and destroy most of that older generation Russian equipment from the air and missile range.

Will never happen and if it did as I say Nukes would even it out. But for all Putins bravado he knows that the technological capabilities and air and sea power of the US are far too much for his ageing military even if by numbers they are huge
 
It wasn't that long ago that military observers seemed to think that the US had the power to fight Russia AND China at the same time.

Which kind of fits. Russia will not be surrounded or made to feel that they're being hemmed in. It's a historically cultural adversity and as a nationalisic country Putin will always be able to rally popular support if the nation feels or are made to feel that way.
 
As expected Putin bought the tories, they f*cked up EU now weakened Mr P wants his revenge. Well done, stupid head brexitears bet you never thought that far in your miserable lives.
 
Stop the war coalition typically aren’t bothered about this war.

They’re just anti west. They’re wanking off over the thought of Putin trampling on Ukrainian freedom and the Chinese throwing Uigher into concentration camps.
 
Looks like this is crunch week with talks going on from today until the 12th.

Suggestion by military analysts are if they fail Putin will then have to make a decision quickly as he can’t keep 100k troops mobilised where they are for long, it’s costing him a fortune, and he only has a few months left of the winter.

Suggestions are it doesn’t look good in terms of talks though with neither side willing to even move a tiny bit yet alone the distance needed to come to an agreement
