A question for all non-Sunderland fans on here

I followed a link from a thread on FMTTM Boro forum, had a nose around, and was very impressed with the range and quality of the content. I lurked for a while then signed up when I wanted to join in on a thread (Astronomy, I think!) I'm a smoggy who moved to Brighton 45 years ago but still have family across the NE. I tend to stay off the SAFC football threads but join in with KSA-related Mag abuse. It's the sheer triviality of some of the threads that reels me in. I spent a happy afternoon watching Noggin the Nog on YouTube last week after a post in SMB

Must admit, I do love the fact that there's plenty fans from other clubs. Stops it being an echo chamber and adds to discussion. Whisper it but I don't even mind the mags, aside from the ones who come on just to take the piss and vanish until their next win. Mag in peace occasionally flirts with piss taking, but seems alright most of the time so I think it's worth putting up with, professor yaffle a really good poster, sombrero the same. As long as they'll still be here when football puts us in the ascendancy it's fine. Then there's decent fans from loads of random clubs, even decent Boro lads. It adds to the place.

And here we are now and you don’t have any players worth looking at. Still, you enjoyed your day in the sun didn’t you? So much that you’re still dining out on it without the slightest inkling of irony.
FFS mate, who invited you onto this board?, Foxtrot Oscar.
This forum has never been a reflection of our match attending fan base.

The SAFC fans on here are mainly 50 year old cockneys who work in IT.
Speak for yourself Stevie :)

What makes you think I crave your support?
You are not really the type of fan wanted on this board, nobody minds other teams fans coming on here, and the majority are great lads, you unfortunately are not you self centered arrogant twat.

Put in a good word here for @Leonard osbourne as well; always comes across as grounded and sensible (though clearly not sensible enough to support the right team 😜)
After the 1998 play off final , we took part in one of the best matches ever seen at Wembley , I developed a soft spot for SAFC. Always enjoy trips to the north east. When I did a family research found my ancestors lived in Monkwearmouth so there must be something in the blood. Enjoy the board.

Never too late to see the light - we welcome prodigals (nee fatted calves mind)

What makes you contribute to this board? I mean, we are Sunderland not Real Madrid.

I can understand Newcastle and maybe Boro fans getting on here, but there’s loads of other teams represented with posters who frequently contribute (Swindon, Wolves, Sheff Wed, West Brom, Villa to name but a few).

No issues about it whatsoever but just genuinely interested in what brings you here. It does create some diversity although I’ve now got a random interest in bloody Swindon because of it 😂

This place was recommended to me by @Bacon Balls years ago, came on and enjoyed the proper discussions and the pisstaking....

This place used to be great, found myself on it everyday and even on an evening at home....

It has gradually became a place that just argues amongst itself, any half decent arguement is shot down, no really decent discussions can be had anymore regarding football....

I ony browse the football side and post infrequently now....

The SMB is the only place I check on a regular basis and thats only through the week....

I don't go on any other messageboards anymore, used to be a NUFC one but it was shocking, so I can't comment on what they are like....

Come on more out of habit now....

I can second or third or whatever the number would be about visiting fans. Looking forward to international borders coming down. Already teeing up a beer or two with @South Banker Wolf in Northampton next year.

Superb that.
Woolfie comes across as a real good un.

We are after all football asylum seekers:)

Its a great forum. Don't bother with the Tranmere forums because one is very cliquey and the other one is 75% moaners. Getting massively drunk with Sunderland supporters after our promotion in 2019 helped a lot.
The reason i first joined was during the virtual tickets campaign last year but i stayed on. Hope you reach your target for the soup kitchen.

For me (Cheltenham) I joined when we got promoted, mostly with a view to discuss our games. But because the forum is so active with such a huge number of posts and diverse range of topics I found myself reading and posting more. It’s a fun forum, a lot of interesting chat, and the (rather funny) hysteria every time you don’t win a game 3-0.

I will probably stop when you go up as I am really only interested in teams in out league.

I visit a few different clubs forums, probably only on post on this one though as when I first come on - in around 2003 - certain posts about boro I felt needed a response, crazy because we were far more successful than Sunderland in that era. I rarely post these days probably due to not being as wound up as easily.

It helps being in the crap and underachiever clubs club.
