Never a pen. What a shame. Plus it’s always hilarious when a team trying to play out concede because they’re not good at it.

We need a competent CB.
Ramsay in Midfield and keep Wilson fit.
That would be enough to keep us up I reckon.
The bottom of the table are awful. Norwich, Watford and 1 from 3 or 4. Probably whichever teams does the worst business in January.

You’ve fallen into the old “the defence is bad because of a centre back” way of thinking there mind. It’s the worst in the league. A league with Norwich in. They’re badly organised from top to bottom. The team isn’t doing enough to stop the team getting sliced apart. Signing a competent centre back isn’t going to stop you conceding completely and you don’t barely look like scoring 1 a game never mind the 3 goals you need to score (on average, you’re conceding over 2 a game) to win a match.

For those who think Newcastle can still stay up, they are they are the only team in the league who have yet to play either Liverpool or Man City home or away. They have played 4 of the other 5 teams in the bottom 6 at home already and have still to play 4 of them away.

They also still have to go to West Ham, Spurs and Chelsea.

18% of their remaining fixtures are against either Liverpool or Man City.
And 95% of their remaining fixtures are against teams currently above them.

Their record v the current top 9 clubs is played 7 won 0 drawn 0 lost 7.

They have 11 more of those games still to play in their last 24 games, so just under half and hopefully can continue picking up points at the same impressive rate. This is the reason I think they are toast as even with major investment in January can you really see them beating a top half club?

They have not lost a single game to any team in the current bottom 8 but a record of Played 6 won 1 drawn 5 isnt going to get you very far when 4 of those games were at home. The one team they have not yet played in the bottom 8 are Everton, who as it stands are the 2nd best side in the bottom 8.

They have not recorded a single win against any team outside the relegation zone. Its mid December.

He's as deluded as the fans, perfect match

Probs because their smelly fans celebrated each of Leicester's goals.

Shelvey left the pitch thinking they'd won.

It depends on how many of those fixtures the clubs around them still have to play though surely? The truth is, they're only 3 points from safety with all of the clubs around them still to play. Are Watford and Burnley for example going to get many points out of the top 9 teams?

The way Watford play I’d expect them to get more top points off the top teams than the bottom teams

Not at all. We ultimately need more, i understand that. Are we going to be able to recruit a full defence in January.... No.
A centre back is, in my opinion, the most pressing issue in defence.
We only have to pass 2 teams. We have been truly awful yet are not cut adrift. Many on here seem to be of the opinion that we have an impossible task. Without checking i would guess, in the main, they will be the same folk who said we were doomed after that ex-player of yours (Maja i think) scored for Fulham at Everton.
You have been (reportedly) priced out of a move for Ben Mee man. Ben f***ing Mee.

Richest club in the world
Newcastle United will turn their attention to Bournemouth's English defender Steve Cook, 30, after being priced out of a deal for Burnley centre-back James Tarkowski, 29. ( )

Looks like we can't afford anyone from Burnley!!!
