Forthcoming gigs.

I honestly can't recall New College hosting any gigs of note. Possibly Dunelm House on New Elvet who put on gigs?

Dunlem had occasional gigs on. I played there once with a local band. I think I saw John Martyn play there, and I definatly saw the Truth at a miners benefit

IIRC New College Durham put on a few gigs in their "refectory" which was really just the college dining hall. Must have been around 85ish

The best place in Durham for gigs in that era were college balls. Well healed students could afford to book decent sized bands for summer balls, pretty sure I saw the Housemartins play at one of them.

They were pretty easy to crash, you just borrowed an old dinner suit, sat on observatory hill smoking dope until the bands started and everyone was pissed and stroll in; watch the band, drink the booze, try and snog the girls.

The next morning there would always be loads of booze left over, stacked up at the back of the college bar waiting to be put away. We would drive round and "tidy up" for them. We would stash the drink in the Durham School cricket pavilion - public school terms were only a few weeks long and it was empty most of the summer. We would work our. way through our ill gotten gains over the summer.

Happy days

Anyone going to little simz tomorrow (today)? We were going to get tickets last minute if we could get childcare but the bairn has decided he likes vomiting on me more than sleeping so I think it’s a no go for us.
I like to think I give every genre of music a fair crack of the whip and many times am surprised at what I like.

I watched this lass on the Brits and congratulations to her but, I just didn’t get it.

I even rewound, put subtitles on to understand the tale but I couldn’t.

I must be classed as old.
