WMS Who Owns Sunderland AFC?

wage bill is a sign of the owners commitment-not geerating the cash to pay the wage bill by not selling out the ground in the premier league is a sign of the fans not doing there bit

Wage bill could also be argued was a result of poor football decisions.

We had the 6th highest attendance in the country for Shorts tenure. Add to that merchandise (you’ve surely seen the queues when a new shirt is released), money on kiosks when in attendance. All adds up and let’s not forget the majority of our fans are from, live and work in the most economically deprived region in the country.

The majority of revenue these days comes from TV money but you know that already. We then had parachute payments when we came down. The chuckle brothers used the last one to buy the club. Given they then wrote off the debt owed by them to the club this is well documented.

We sell out every away allocation. We average 30k in League One, we spend God knows how much on shirts, streams, merch etc.

But aye mate. Fans fault the club ended up millions in debt.

Fuck off

Premier League clubs obviously. Seeing as that is what our entire discussion is about.

Woah there. Ticket sales you said. Let's stick with the silly point you were making.
well ticket sales are the example I used because they are the example where SAFC in terms of revenue was way behind where it should be. ITS CORECT OF course that fans are not responsible for the fuck ups of the Alvarez nature, and those fuck ups would have made the club lose money in those years anyway. BUt if SAFC had sold out the ground in the prem charging the average ST price for the prem instead of a vastly discounted one..then the club would have lost less and beena much better prospect for owners when short was selling, instead the club ended up with small time clowns like Donald..while other clubs got billioanires.
Thank Christ we've found out that it's the fans fault the club has spiralled downwards.
For a second I'd thought it was down to absolute dogshit ownership and chancers...
short was an incompetent owner but no one can say he didnt put his cash in..

the club hasnt sprairled downwards under donald, its in the same league he found it in, with a richer owner

the best way for fans to be able to hold owners to account is for a club to be profitable...because if its profitable..owners will listen to those who made it so, ie the fans, whereas if a club incurs heavy losses so the owner is paying out..then the ower wont listen to those who made it loss making, ie the fans
You might want to scratch that line. The fans aren't the cause of clubs making losses

When owners spend thousands on plant pots per month, and cryptotheraphy chambers for their CEO who sacked a load of staff at the same time as sending a squad of players to New York for a jolly, it's absolutely the fans fault for not putting even more money in to support that.

thwe club ended uo millions in debt because the club didnt generate enough to pay the bills...short wiped the debt to him, which was transfer fees he paid...but even without fees for shite players the club lost a fortune...short wiped out nearly £200m of his own cash..did they spend £200m on fees? course not..he was having t subsidise the wage bill..

not just the fans no..but the fans not paying enough to the club forwhat they recieve is part of it..

Nobody has said he didn't put cash in. They have however said he spent it disastrously. He spent all the money he put in disastrously, all the tv renue we received disastrously and all the fan generated revenue disastrously and you are suggesting if fans bought more tickets then it would have all been spent well.

So why didn’t the owner cut costs, or hire competent people to do that on the playing side. The fans paid what they were asked to pay. Say we sold out every week, stick another 8k on the gate. I doubt it would’ve even covered what we paid Rodwell for half a year.

Why are you bothered that other people want to know who owns the club?
If you dont want to know, fine, should be easily achieved, maybe reading this thread should be avoided.
I'm not bothered, I'm just pointing out that knowing makes no difference and the futility of people thinking they can hold the owners to account, whatever that means.

Another 8k on the gate would just have been wasted on something else. The fans would have to have sold over an extra 125 million worth of tickets not to have ended up in anywhere near the shit we were in and that's on the presumption that 125 million was well spent when in actual fact we know it wasn't because that 125 million did indeed come in in the form of a bank loan and was squandered.

Definitely not bothered. Just been opposing it for two days for no reason.

dothat every year the losses would have been less each year
short did cut costs..he did so dramatically..just very very incompetently..but not selling out the season after a 10th place finish reflects badly on the fan base not the owner, lots of other things reflect badly on the owner.

Details weren't disclosed of the other interested parties werent disclosed (it would be strange if they were). I think @GarethQ and the lads at WMS could vouch for there being other another interested party who were wanting to take the club on better terms than Donald. i.e. have the parachute money go into the club.
The Madr part of Madrid. We ended up with the Ox.
