Did anyone else hear Christian Purslow’s interview on R4 Today this morning? He is Chief Exec of Aston Villa and was talking about the Fan Led Review and need for a regulator.

When he was asked if a regulator would have blocked the Saudi takeover he categorically said no. His view was that because UK government policy is that Saudi Arabia is an ally or partner there would be no grounds for a regulator to block it.

He was very laissez faire about the take over ,saying he knows the owners very well don’t know if he’s talking about the real boss the Butcher of Riyadh.States That their business plans are no Threat to other clubs .The 200 million budget over 3 seasons seems about right not to threaten

Hopefully. There has definitely been a shift to handing out bans to posters telling the whatabootery army to eff off. The beheady boys know this and report posts. It’s going to ruin the board in my opinion. Certainly I post a lot less than I used to - which I appreciate opens me wide open to the inevitable replies!

The bans are daft in length. 24 hrs to cool off would surely be sufficient in most cases? A week for overstepping the mark? 6 weeks and folk will just bog off elsewhere on the net and may not return
