So you wouldn't prefer him over Johnson then? OK, it didn't work out at hearts, but he achieved promotion at a canter at Barnsley, whilst the team was playing some lovely stuff. He then had the rug pulled from beneath his feet.

Whereas Johnson has achieved the square root of f*ck all and has also been sacked in previous roles.

David Moyes was shite at Sociedad, shocking with us and rightly sacked, yet West Ham still employ him (for the second time) and look where they are now.

Some clubs suit different managers, so how will we know unless he's given the opportunity.

Johnson stays, we play in this league again next season, something I dread.

Part of the issue of why we kept Johnson in the first place, is the new owner and his 'team' want control over recruitment and so anyone with a spine that we want is likely to give the club a swerve for that reason. How about Steve Agnew ?

I don’t think he’d do better than Johnson, but it’s not a case of choosing between him and Johnson.

I want us to think outside the box a bit. Every time we sack a manager we jump on the “out of work manager merry go round” only to find that there’s a reason they are out of work. I’d much rather go down the route that a few clubs have gone down and get a well respected academy or team coach from a top team, or have had big success in a smaller league (like Norwich did with Farke, Huddersfield with Wagner, Blackpool with Critchley and Swansea with Potter); or (as I’ve said before) a John Terry type experienced top player who has won things and can inspire our squad and create a buzz with the fans and the media in the way Keane did 15 years ago.

Agnew was first team coach at a premiership club and is now out of work.
He played for us and understands the area more than most.
He also has academy experience.

If not steve agnew and you want a bit more personality then you may as well try woodgate who is a poor mans coleman.
