I’ve always felt strongly about people being abused or marginalised because they were born on the wrong side of a border, or to the wrong parents that went to a different church, people being ostracised for being different or victims of circumstance. I once visited Auschwitz Birkenau. We can’t trust politicians or others in authority to do the right thing. In a world so interconnected doing nothing is no longer an excuse or an option. And being half a world away is no longer an excuse.

I wrote to Amnesty re Sting being a big supporter of them and being strangely quiet on the takeover. He did reply via Amnesty but it was marked private so I can't share but I did wonder if it was an email he uses whenever someone asks him about this. Basically, it was like reading one of his songs, by that I mean it used lots of words but did not say anything at all really. Tanita Tickarum would have been proud, to this day I don't know what twist in my sobriety means. Think I would have been more impressed if Sting publicly said "back the team but not the regime" but while Ant & Dec and the MP woman sold their souls at least he is keeping quiet so I will give him that.
