Years agan they’d have ticket collectors waiting at the top of the stairs at Sunderland train station for that very reason

Well I didn’t get on the 12:00 train had to get the mrs to drop me off. Just about managed to squeeze onto the 7:00 train home. What a shit “service”

I’ve already sent them an email and asked them for a written explanation as to the reasons for them expecting their services to be quiet when over 100k people were attending football matches in the area. I’ve also asked them why they then announced that their services were delayed due to overcrowding due to a football match. I’ve already had 15 rail vouchers from them this season due to their “customer service”.
Also submitted a FOI request for the number of passengers that travelled on their services in the Sunderland area yesterday and the number turned away due to overcrowding.

Yes, always ask. I travelled to Wigan in the cup for nowt due to their previous customer service.
