Who was the user that wanted a letter/email sent to a local MP a few weeks back? I finally recieved a piss poor reply yesterday
Errrm look at both letters. The passage that mentions ‘10 years of blah blah’ are word for word identical….???It was me as well.
I sent an email to who would have been my MP if I still lived here. He was good enough to unofficially reply by email within a week or so. No House of Commons stationery, but fair enough, as I don't have a UK address. It may be a bit of a stock answer, as possibly a few people have raised concerns about it to local MPs:-
Dear XXXX
Thank you for your recent email about Newcastle United’s takeover.
I have long believed football fans deserve more and better transparency from owners. I have therefore been calling on the UK Government to honour its manifesto commitment to set up a fan-led review of football governance, which will include consideration of the Owners’ and Directors’ Test.
This review must begin as soon as possible, so we can deliver a governance structure for football that is modern, accountable and above all, puts fans at the heart of their clubs. As part of the review, I believe it will be important to consider who should be able to own a football club, as well as what information ought to be in the public domain regarding ownership, finance and structure.
Above all, I believe the review of football governance must be genuinely driven by what fans want and need. It is therefore vital that the Government makes clear what “fan-led” will mean in practice and, crucially, when we can expect change.
It is almost ten years since the House of Commons Culture, Media and Sport Committee published recommendations on football governance – including for “a strong fit and proper persons test consistently applied” – and these issues are becoming urgent. I will continue to press for progress in this area.
Thank you once again for contacting me and for sharing your views.
Kind regards,
Grahame Morris MP
This about the fourth one with those lines in it. All studiously refusing to even acknowledge the human rights issues. It’s as if theyve all got their snouts in the same trough.Errrm look at both letters. The passage that mentions ‘10 years of blah blah’ are word for word identical….???
Are they copying and pasting responses or is there a dictat of appropriate party line passages/phrasing to use ?
Interesting to hear a Newcastle fans take on him, I've seen previous comments on here from @Grants echoing the same sentiments. My boss at work is a Geordie who supports Sunderland, and he can't stand him either, not just because of the football thing, but he's had minor dealings with him in the past and he says he's a complete prick as well.
I'm not sure that he even likes football that much, certainly not as much as real NUFC football fanatics he likes to 'speak for' , it seems like it's more of a populist vehicle for him to attach himself to get more exposure to self publicise and showcase his complete lack of any obvious talent. Anyone remember his little publicity stunt of turning his back on Newcastle to support Dunston? No one gave a fuck so that didnt last very long. I reckon if speedway or something became the biggest thing in sport he would be there claiming that he had always been a massive Diamonds fan and abandon football together.
Ive never read any of his books, and I doubt I ever will, and I've blinked when Vera was on so ive not seen any of his acting masterclass either, but he seems like the complete opportunist, he'll latch onto anyone or anything to promote his own little ego trip as he strives to become some sort of important NE persona. The sad thing is though is it's working, interviews, soundbites, pantomimes, podcasts, wait till he gets on Sunday for Sammy then he's really made it in the world of Geordie glitterati, I mean look at this thread, how many mentions of him? Never a good word about him (ive yet to hear anyone say that away from the self serving bollocks he's actually a canny lad) but no publicity and all that....
Sadly he's actually perfect for the modern day 'celebrity' - talentless, shameless and skin thicker than a teddy boys shoe.
Pwoppa gansta stylee tho innit bro ?
