Racism at Yorkshire CCC

Robinson got an eight-match ban by the Cricket Discipline Commission, five of which were suspended for two years. He was also fined and required to attend various training courses as directed by the PCA over a two-year period.
 
Hopefully the comment doesn’t undermine the work that’s being done.

The best thing for this is for it to stop being a Rafiq issue/story as he’s clearly no saint and just focus on the problem itself.

It certainly shouldn’t be a get out clause for others who have been guilty of it.

Again racism isn't acceptable in any shape of form, that's what we should be teaching our children, if you start dividing it up in to different levels then isn't that going to be confusing for them. Also abusive posts on a forum isn't acceptable either, would you agree with that too?

Just catching up with the thread and I really just had to highlight and respond to what is just an absolutely ridiculous take on things. By minimalising and trivialising racism in this way, you’re inadvertently adding to the problem. It needs to be dealt with as the huge thing that it is. ‘Apologise and move on’ is just a simplistic, nonsensical view of things.
 
If Hales England career wasn't dead in the water before The Sun Photo then since then they've recovered the body, cremated it, scattered the Ashes and now forgetting he ever existed.

Black facing years ago doesnt really strike me as a major sin and overt example of racism and prejudice of the black community, but I do accept it’s become something polarising that now seems to cause great offence in some quarters. With white people especially getting triggered on behalf of black people.

That said. Hales, the man is an absolute knacker. Has various previous for all manners of antics thats before we even get to racism so really, nowt shocks me with him.

There nobody saying anything other than Rafiqs two tweets as a teenager 10 years ago are anything other than racist and unacceptable. What many people are saying is that the systematic day in day out racist abuse over years that Rafiq has faced driving him to the point of suicide is worse. Also if you weren’t on here defending Rafiq before yesterday knowing what he went through but have come on now gleefully to hammer him then you are a blatant racist yourself.You have to be.

It doesn’t matter if it’s one account of racism or 100 accounts of it racism is racism, there is no limit to the amount of comments that can lead someone to thoughts of suicide, all racism is unacceptable in all walks of life.

Stamp it all out I hope the ecb and yccc and even do something about this abuse and those who need to be are punished abs are ashamed!

but like I said 1 or 100 times racism is racism and only takes the one action to tip someone over the edge.

my nephew who is 16 has one account of
Racism in his life he had a knife pulled out on him for being black the only abuse he’s suffered but he now has counciilibg for this one account one time and it’s destroyed him

All racism is terrible and no one is saying anything other tha Rafiws messages were racist and wholly unacceptable, However up until 5pm yesterday all many people knew was that a Pakistani cricketer had suffered years of racist abuse by white cricketers that had driven him to to suicide and many posters in here were nowhere to be seen. However since 5pm yesterday and the emergence of 2 racist messages from Rafiq sent 10 years ago some posters not seen previously, not criticising the acts of white cricketers, commentators, administrators many of which admitted their part in the racism towards Rafiq have emerged from nowhere to criticise Rafiq and Rafiq only. Every single poster that ticks that box is an absolutely massive racist.

And this is what is now required. Rafiq has highlighted a huge, huge issue within the game and now hopefully we will see changes being made to prevent that from happening in future.

My personal opinion is that Rafiq cannot be involved due to what was revealed yesterday. But in a way his work is done anyway, he’s highlighted a huge problem and now hopefully the reforms that will be made can make it safer for fellow players in future

I agree re Rafiq but I worry about him. He doesn’t have his cricket anymore due to the racism and I think saw this as his project and a way of filling the void and making a difference. I hope his mental health doesn’t deteriorate too much.

Nobody, not one single person, is giving Rafiq a pass on his tweet. Can you not read?

But if you think that a tweet from a teenager is equivalent to a professional sports club (and indeed the governing body of one of our national sports) tolerating sustained racial abuse, and once exposed attempting to cover it up. Then frankly, you're a cretin.
