Michael Vaughan

Interesting what if anything further Root says. Now that a current and respected England player has corroborated Rafiq’s claim will he stick to the ‘I’ve never heard anything”

Root not managed by firm that Vaughan is part of ?

Always thought Root one of the good guys but his statement was just PR sound bites strung together.

Root knows everything that went on. He's one of the leaders of the club past 10 years. Other players will be indicted too

I tend to agree, a bit of a get out might be that he’s been fully contracted to England for about that time which might enable him to say he was away for much of the time.

Not that I buy that btw

Yes Michael but what about:

1) Your anti immigration stance
2) Suggesting Moeen should spend his time speaking to random Muslims asking if they are terrorists
3) Stating that you need to learn another language to be understood in London
4) Taking the piss out of the Sri Lankan national anthem
5) Defending Quinton De Kock re refusng to take the knee when the player himself realised he made a terrible error of judgement.

It would be nice if the press pushed him on this type of stuff.

there are 3 players saying he said it now, he continues to point blank deny it, how long until he qualifies this with "what I meant was..."
Not just any old player, it's Adil Rashid. Maybe the gammon will now STFU with their "why hasn't Adil Rashid said anything" crack.

I personally can’t stand Michael Vaughan and i’m glad he’s in for a cancelling (or whatever the cancel culture deniers call it)

We know his social media has a whiff of potential racism about it and we know he is a massive gobshite / oaf. BUT (i’m gonna get pelters here), for the purposes of debate and understanding his likely defence:

To my knowledge this is the only racial comment he’s accused of saying. Is there an acceptable context he may have said those words in (as that is probably what his argunent is going to be based on, lets be honest). Ie If he thought he was pally with them four lads and they’d not take offence. It was almost certainly said in jest despite the fact there is a pretty rancid backdrop of more forthright and blatant / offensive racism at YCCC & other counties.

Is there any context to be offered where this isn’t actually as bad as it seems?

The things involving Vaughan will be before Roots time.

I like how he's still blathering on about being the first Yorkshire person to sign.

When Tendulkar played for Yorkshire first team before him

He's defending himself using the Ajmal Shahzad is my Asian friend who says he never experienced racism.

Perhaps Ajmal never heard this remark. Perhaps he doesn't want to jeopardize his coaching career getting thrown into a libel case the twat will probably try.

And has claimed that Shahzad is on record as saying that he never heard me say what has been suggested, and he has contacted the other six players from the team, and not one of them has any recollection of the remarking made.

Sky covered the match, dont know if any audio exists, or if any footage exists of Vaughan talking to the 4 Asian players separately to the rest of the team, but as things stand Vaughan s solicitors might be getting excited about a claim for compo.

I would refute his point on that.

This article doesn't defend him.

Shahzad simply may not have heard what Vaughan is alleged to have said.

He hasn't on record said Vaughan didn't say what the others heard.

So Vaughan's telling porkies again.
