yup, estimated at 75% plus have it. We first trained with a lady who had 4, one of each colour and we had 2, of the 6, 5 were confirmed to have it. Trouble is it usually doesn't really show until the dog is 3-4 years old by which time most of the breeding has been done. It's not only that, they are spaniels, so pretty much are always hungry. They also have weak hearts, so the combination is a recipe for disaster. We kept Rosie at a solid 8.5kg, slim waist, low body fat level, but because of the SM her rear end was weak. She ended up looking like body builder who didn't like leg day. We bought a pool for the back garden and you could see when putting her in, she'd paddle with her front legs and tuck her back legs up. I see loads who are massively overweight and it breaks my heart.
So I'll say again, as much as I love cavaliers, no one should buy one.
Rosie in her prime, aged 4 at this point. RIP you absolute superstar.
and in april where she had held out to meet our daughter, include me resuscitating after her heart stopped at christmas
I repeat, do not get a king charles spaniel
