Concurred, great gig. And kudos to the MLF standing near us who, when Jobson made some comments about Newcastle, started blasting out "Red and White army" with arms outstretched, a pleasure to see.You must be logged on to see external links
Just got back from the Skids at the Boiler Shop in Newcastle..absolutely superb.
I was just behind them..class when Jobson mentioned the Arab butchers and that!!..I could see the drummer out of 1977..CC..next to where the lad shouted out.Concurred, great gig. Sounds like a few Sun'lun there tonight then. Never liked Jobson years ago when they were going but seems a sound bloke now (nowt to do with the arab comments obviously......)I was just behind them..class when Jobson mentioned the Arab butchers and that!!..I could see the drummer out of 1977..CC..next to where the lad shouted out.
Aye, that’ll not be happening. Need to buy me & our lass tickets for the Rest foes at Wylam Brewery today.I’d suggest Sunday as they may call it a day after this tour following the death of Cush earlier this year.
I was familiar with quite a bit of their stuff but didn't enjoy them at all. The sound was awful. It was at Middlesbrough Westgarth Social Club that has a low ceiling and dreadful acoustics. It's in an area of town that is a mix of new student buildings and ropey terraced houses. It felt a totally unsafe area to leave a car, so I parked in the town centre and walked about half a mile to the venue. Quite a few gangs of 4/5 teenage lads wandering aimlessly. Lots of Police vehicles travelling slowly in the area, which I guess is meant to reassure but has the opposite effect.I saw the Nightingales a couple of months ago, knew nothing of them until the Stewart Lee film. They were tremendous!
Rifles. There’s not a new band knocking about.Aye, that’ll not be happening. Need to buy me & our lass tickets for the Rest foes at Wylam Brewery today.
That's a shame. I saw them on home turf in Birmingham at a lovely little festival and was surprised by how good they were.I was familiar with quite a bit of their stuff but didn't enjoy them at all. Not a venue I'll be going back to.
I saw Public Service Broadcasting there on their 1st tour and it wasn't the best of venues then but it sounds like it's gone downhill a bit since! Stayed in a pub nearby and don't remember feeling threatened, though it might have been pissing down so we got a taxi back. Not a venue I'll be going back to.
I was already Googling them!Rifles. There’s not a new band knocking about.
I’ve got tickets for him at The Boiler Shop, also got Working Mens Club this Wednesday at St Dominics.Saw Jarv Is on Tuesday at the round house and thought it was only ok where as Damon Albarn at Banquet records last night was fantastic - Mainly his old stuff. I was on the later show and we were treated to 6 more songs than the earlier one.
I was at that PSB gig too. Over 8 years ago! That's a shame. I saw them on home turf in Birmingham at a lovely little festival and was surprised by how good they were.

I saw them at Liverpool Cathedral in 2013. Sound was amazing. I need to start getting to gigs in the north east now we moved back this way.saw them at the sage couple of years back touring ones and sixes.
unbelievably good
Stone Valley next yearHas anyone got any local ska or reggae stuff lined up?
20th?Not a music gig, but I've just booked tickets for Al Murrays new pub landlord tour in Cheltenham on the 21st March. Very handy as we're down there anyway for Cheltenham Gold Cup day.
Crackin weekend to look forward to.
