The mag media wankathon will be in full swing tonight ! Howe as uninspiring as he is will get more coverage than Conte did going to Spurs on Sky and BT !
Pleased I’m not in NE for moist Dawnie 🤢

It is but watch the desperate spin !!!!

If we appointed him in the championship I’d think “ok, he’s been promoted before but might need replaced early on the following season”

the one thing the mags hope for is money being chucked all over the place (sorry that’s not true now they’ve got their club back), his record at spending money is horrendous, done well before splashing it on rubbish players.

It just doesn’t make any sense. I thought they might have plumped for a quick fix to keep them up and then make a long term appointment next summer. A Big Sam or Gus Hiddink might be a short term fix.

Howe had Bournemouth playing some decent stuff but it was only in front of a small crowd with a lower expectation. Can you imagine the impatience when they’re trying to play out from the back at the Gallowgate?

‘Get it forward man’ etc

Bizarre appointment.

He seems a decent type, but his best work was always working without much money. The rise from League Two to Premier League utilised a lot of the same players. As soon as he was given money he seemed to struggle. Big name signings like Ibe, Solanke, Adobe didn’t work out.

It’s also telling that his last job ended in relegation. If I was a mag I’d be both underwhelmed and concerned.
That impression sailed by as soon as I’d heard he was even considering working for the evil gets.

Mixed feelings on this one and the bigger picture. On the minus side, I (used to) like Eddie Howe and he is an upgrade on Bruce. It also shows some money and intent from the new regime, which gives a kind of sinking feeling.

On the plus side, it is not a mega appointment and some candidates either turned them down or didn’t receive attractive enough offers. It shows a lack of clarity from the new regime, which gives a kind of of uplifting feeling.

Time will tell.

hes not really an upgrade on bruce.. unless you count a couple of league places better in his best season..

Because popularity is more important than sensible thinking at the minute for them. Every manager, DoF, Chief Exec gets tested against the audience before they're announced. A Hodgson or a Nuno would have been ideal appointments on a short-term basis, but let's go for the bloke with a load of PR behind him because "it allows wor to dream again". Even Emenalo - I think that's a good appointment, but you knew they'd go out and nab a big-name.

As usual, let them get on with that.
