Djokovic ends the year as no. 1 for the seventh time - breaking Sampras record.

Some effort by Hurkacz to come back from being bagelled to force a tie break in the third.

Good match, that.

Djokovic and Medvedev end the year comfortably as the top 2, which is fair enough. It's an exceptional achievement from Djokovic, given the competition he's had for much of his career, relative to Sampras.

His reaction said it all. Really meant a lot to him. Considered the sheer strength of the competition throughout his career it is really remarkable what he's achieved.

Arguably the highest quality tour match of the year saved for just about the last one there, very very good.

As good as Medvedev is it's pretty clear that Djokovic will always be better than him if he plays at a high level. Not that that's a criticism, since 2010 that's been the case for everyone other than Nadal on clay and Murray/Fed on grass for the first few years of the decade. Testament to how good Medvedev is that he's constantly able to challenge him really.

Cam Norrie replaces Stefanos Tsitsipas in the ATP Tour Finals   only the third Brit this century to play in either the men's or women's tour singles finals after Sir Muzz and Tiger Tim.

Plays against Casper Ruud tonight and then Djokovic on Thursday. Realistically gonna have to win in straight sets tonight to have any chance and then take at least a set off Djokovic who will hopefully already be qualified and not arsed. Regardless, a great and fully well deserved achievement.

thats a disgraceful decision. i'm sure they'll be publishing exactly why he gets an exemption and it's not just "is he the best player?".

Djokovic has received medical exemption to play in the Australian Open. I can’t see this going down well with fellow players or the public who have lived through some really tough restrictions.
It's a shocking decision, as is Djokovic's 'it's a private matter' until he gets exempt and then posts about having a medical exemption...should be forced the vaccine if he's going to play...

Nope they released a statement with no specific reason as to why he was exempt

Ultimately not all that surprising but that Raducanu scoreline... ouch.

Think if she finishes top 50 that's a really good year for her. The amount of pressure on her is ridiculous. Still think any talk of her winning a Slam this year is daft, just let her get used to the tour.

First win of the year for Sir Muzz this morning, chance of a good little run this week with his draw and pick up some early ranking points although I'm not entirely sure he should be 1/4 to beat Basilashvili up next.

Sir Muzz into his first final since 2019  looked good out there. Movement is back to being better than just about everyone on tour, returning looks to be getting a lot sharper. That final return to break and serve for the match against Opelka was a gem. Shame Dan Evans couldn't get it done in the other semi for the first ever all British ATP final. Not that it matters too much at this point but a win tomorrow lifts him comfortably back inside the top 100, clearly top 100 is not the goal for this year.

Good to see Liam Broady come through qualifying as well, perfect start to the year. Really didn't fancy him against JJ Wolf and came from a set and 5-2 down to beat Safiullin earlier to get it done. Drawn against Nick Kyrgios as well so no doubt gets an evening headline match on John Cain. Great stuff.

Well done to him. Isn't Opelka 7 foot tall or not far off it? Must take some doing returning serves from that.

If Murray beats the top seed to win that tournament he'll be coming into the Autralian Open on a huge high.

Andy Murray beats Basilashvili in a five set battle to set up a tie with Taro Daniel in the second round.

Dan Evans also through but in straight sets. Heather Watson wins in three.

No idea what will happen in Raducanu's match against Sloane Stephens, the better half of one Jozy Altidore. That's a silly tough draw considering she's unseeded.
